Maybe something else broke when your computer overheated :(
Did you find a cause for the overheat like blocked vents or something?
Try and connect an ethernet cable directly between your wireless access point and your computer.
If that works then the problem is definitely with your WIFI.
If it doesn't work then the problem could be with your access point.
Also have a look in the event logs and see if there are any error messages.
You might also be able to find some diagnostic software for the wifi card.
Have a look at the manufactures web site.
Hope this helps.

I'd suggest to update your computer's NIC (Network Interface Card) driver software.
Your particular operating system would determine how to find, but go to Device Manager, find your network card, Right-click and select Update Driver.
If still a problem, contact your provider to be certain that the latest firmware is installed on your modem.
Hope this resolves your problem.

Well if your problem is to back up your files, you already said that you can get into safe mode, you can attach an external hard drive or flash drive to copy your files from local drive. Remember to activate your OS system restore if your able to succesfully restore your system with your CD. You can change that settings on properties of "my computer".

what are facing is a problem caused by a virus that either destroys files that support .exe applications to run or it replaces which makes your machine unstable. my first solution to you is to repair your operating system using the operating system cd. secondly, if that doesn't work please try installing a second os on your system and then you do a dual booting. u then delete the folder of the previous os. if that does not work u backup ur files and then you format ur system with a new os
