Re: hi .....

You can format by using a winxp or vista cd, first you need to cofigure your bios setting by letting your 1st boot device as the cd rom insert your winxp cd then save and exit the computer will reboot after saving. an info will saying"press any key to boot from cd" you may press any key. the cd now loads and reads your system just follow all the instructions that will appear in your monitor

I have a single installation of Ubuntu 11.10. How do I remove it and install Windows 7? Have tried from the Windows boot disk but I dont know what my drive letter is as Ubuntu does not name it????

You can use the windows disk to over-write the ubuntu installation. Just boot from the windows disk, and when it asks where to install, tell it to format the disk and create a partition from the unpartitioned space. Windows will format the disk and you should be good to go. Keep in mind, everything on the disk will be lost.

Try inserting your problematic HD into casing for external HD, and then collect data that you need. Later on you can format the HD and use it as a NEW.

Format the hard drive and reinstall the OS. You will need the original Vista Disk or Vista Restore Disk you created after your bought the computer. Once you format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system it will be just as it was when you first turned it on. Know that you will loose everything on the computer when you format the hard drive. Back up what you do not want to loose.

Format fat32 in vista for external hard drive

Click on Start > All programs > Accessories > right click on cmd. Select run as Administrator. Open it and connect your external hard disk. Then give the following command: Type format f: /fs:fat32 /q. In this the f is the drive letter of your external hard disk. The windows utility will format the disk and convert it to a FAT32 partition type.

Your system is either infected by virus or other malicious software. you have two options for this problem.1. You have to scan your hard disk with strong and latest spy ware if is not solving your problem then 2. you have to perform the low level formatting of your hard disk.

I dont know what the error actually means.

But have you formatted the hard drive using NTFS.

Are you selecting the upgrade option.

To perform the installation follow the steps :

Use the vista upgrade advisor whether your compter is capable of upgrading to vista.

Then start the installation.
