The string just shoots out and wraps around the inside, its a mes

The string just shoots out and wraps around the mechanism...I think there is a little white gizmo in the head that keeps it from doing that, and it looks like a little piece of it broke off... is that white part what keeps it from continually letting string come out?? Can it be replaced?
I don't have a manual and Lowes doesn't know who would fix these things... its electric too..

SOURCE: 18v cordless string trimmer will not stop feeding line

Some of the trimmers recommend a certain size line, if you have one of these that let line out as needed, the speed at which the trimmer cuts will let out line as needed. If you have too small of line the drag for the friction let-out you will spoll all the line out. Make sure the line is the right size, They come in alot of sizes, anywhere from .060" to .125" line thickness so make sure you have the right size line!

SOURCE: one side feeds to much string the and it

You have wound that string in the wrong direction. Both sections of string should be wound in the same direction. If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Take the spool off and turn it up side down take out the centre and wind the left side 6 times to the left and the right side 6 turns to the right then put the ends through the holes and refit to stud and screw on butter fly nut...
Dont try winding them both the same way as when you try to get more out 1 side will come out and the other will go inside so you will be back were you started

Imaginext batcave elevator string came out

I had the same issue, my son used his all of half a day and the elevator stopped working. If you take the top of the cave off, and unscrew it from the elevator shaft you will see a black wheel. The string needs to be wrapped around this twice, there should be very little play in the string. What I had to do was take out the 3 screws that held it to the knob on top, then wrap the string back around the wheel making sure not to tangle the string more. once the string is wrapped 2 times you can reassemble.

A/C compressor is making a lot of noise under the hood. Looks like the clutch assembly is falling apart. Can I bypass this somehow or should i replace. Really can not afford to take to mechanic. Thank...

if you dont want the a/c to work you can get a shorter belt that does'nt go around the a/c pulley, take a piece of string and wrap it arond only the pulleys you need and then measure the string for a belt length

Homelite trimmer, gas, string - y is the string wrapping itself around the head of the trimmer?

The line on my new 26cc Homelite would also feed out by itself. That started me thinking the line was wound backwards. I wrapped the line in the opposite direction as was shown on the bump feed reel and now the dang thing works although the bump feed needs to be "bumped" pretty hard to work. Is it possible that the reel was manufactured with the (string direction) arrows pointing the wrong direction? The new 26cc unit is also underpowered compared to my older 25cc trimmer.

I have a wind tunnel vacuun and the roller will not turn

There is only one motor which turns the turbine and brush. Therefore, if the suction from the turbine works check the belt by removing the bottom plate of the vacuum and look for the belt attached to the brush roller or if only a piece of the broken belt is inside the unit. If the belt is attached and intact look for a mechanical switch to turn on and off the brush and make sure it is not on bare floor or off. Look on one of the edges of the brush assembly for the clutch which is attached to the mechanical brush switch with a rod. The clutch will close and open when you move the mechanical switch. If you cannot turn the brush unit by hand you may need to remove some objects such as string or hair from wrapped around the clutch or brush.

Agitator unit on Kenmore Progressive 116.25915503 won't spin. I have cleaned out all hair and string wrapped around it. Belt is good. It seems to spin on one side but stuck on the other. Could string be...

Pry the end caps off the brush bar, you will find hair and string wrapped up tight in the end. the bearing may also be shot, you can try and oil it up a bit to keep it spinning. <!-- from fixya rte -->

Recoil not recoilling good

hey fark
This is easy. Take off rope housing (four screws). Once off, pull the string out 3/4 of the way. Once out, tie string around spindle one extra time ( real easy just wrap string once more around winding spool ). This oughta make string snap back after pulls.

Disney Talking Woody Doll - String stuck in pulled position

A friend of ours gave our son a hand-me-down Woody doll with no string at all. I decided to see if I could fix it...about 4 hours, 1 soldering iron, and the realization that my eyes are failing faster than I thought, I was able to return Woody's voice. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures, but here's what you'll need to do depending on what you find as you operate.

0. Perform of these steps over some sort of container to be sure that you don't lose any of the small pieces that may be liberated in this operation (particularly a small spring that comes later).
1. Take out the battery pack through his lumbar Velcro. There is a black wire that carries power into Woody's thoracic cavity to a module that houses the electronics.
2. You will have to untie, or otherwise get the string through the hole in Woody's back so you can work on it...I don't know what's at the pull end of the string since the Woody we inherited had no visible string.
3. Cut open the white fabric inside Woody that separates battery pack from the electronics module.
4. Take out the two screws that hold the two halves of the module together. CAREFULLY separate these as there are a couple of wires that run between the half with the electronics and the half with the speaker.
5. If you are lucky, which I was not, all the wires will be intact and you will only have to restring Woody. (Nervous sytem work (i.e. wiring) will require a soldering iron and perhaps the assistance of an additional set of hands...)
6. The string is wrapped around a spindle which is spring loaded on one side (it's the big spring - not the little one). With the spindle side of the module towards you (big spring to the lef), the string *should* come up in front of the spindle, over the top and down through the hole..at least think it should. Again the string was broken in ours and once I opened the module, I couldn't tell which way it was originally.
7. On the right side of the spindle is the mechanism that completes the circuit when the spring is pulled. This includes a small spring, and metal piece that makes intermittent contact when the spindle winds back up after pulled.

So, depending on what you see when you take the module and battery pack out you may find:

0. Oh, of course, replace the batteries just to be safe.
1. The string was just hung up in Woody's back and simply removing the module allowed it to be come free again. Piece of cake.
2. The string was bound up around the spindle in which case you just need to clear it and be sure that it winds up properly when pulled. You may need to rewind the string, in which case you need to lift the right side of the spindle (take care to observe how the spring and metal piece are configured...and DON'T LOSE THE SPRING..it took my 10 year old daughter's eagle eyes 5 minutes to find it after it went shooting off the table)
3. The spring mechanism is somehow stuck. This will require tweezers and some patience to sort out the cause.
4. You may have to replace the string. I found some laying around the house that was close to the small shred that remained in our Woody.
5. Finally, I actually had to solder down 3 wires to get the circuit to work. If you're in this predicament, let me know and I will draw a picture for you of what goes where.

In the end, I got Woody to talk again, though he tends to speak without being pulled from time to time. But I gotta tell you, the feeling I got when he burst out with, "Howdy partner, my name's Woody!" was about the best feeling I've had in a long time.

Good luck, and let me know if you need any more information.

Shawn
