I have a four year old frigidaire with ice and water dispenser and filter made by Electrolux. The water dispenser is leaking/dripping water after use and when filling ice maker. It appears to have started since we last replaced filter. We seem to replace a filter every four months. Do you think that I could fix this by replacing the valve on the bottom back where the water line is hooked up? Thanks. I am happy to order the part from you.

- Thank you for the response. I have pulled the filter several times and placed it back in. I also looked at the filter washers and everything appears snug. I will order a new filter tonight and install when it arrives but I really think it may be something else. If the new filter has the same problem, what would be my next item to replace? Thanks again.

- How do I check the valve? By Replacing it? Is it the valve that the water line is first connected too? It is at the base of the back and then the water line leaves there and heads up to I guess the filter system? It seems along ways away but I will try to replace the part. Do you know what the name of this valve is si i know what to ask for?

- I have water dripping from the water dispenser after I use it or when the machine is filling up the ice maker. I was reccomended to replace the water filter by an earlier advisor but then he made some other suggestions which really made no sense. No water is dripping from any leaks in the system other than the actual dispenser hose end. does anyone have any history on this problem.

- The replaced water valve was the trick and it was an easy job. It actually came with directions too.
Thank you again.
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Frigidaire.
Filters may cause leaks but hardly from the water dispenser. So, replacing the filter will not help (At least I don't think it will). According to my five years experience on this kind of appliances, the leak may be caused by:
1. Excessive OR low water pressure. When the pressure from the water installation is too high, the water valve may no be able to stop it.
2. Low water pressure may cause leaks too. The water valve uses the pressure itself from the water to shut down the supply.
3. Foreign objects coming from the water supply may avoid the water valve to close and seal the supply.
So, as you can see, all above points to a problem with the water valve. As your appliance is about four year old, I believe replacing the water valve will be the best solution.
If you want to be sure that the valve is having leaks, you can turn off the ice-maker, label the plastic tubes, and disconnect the plastic tubes (from the valve, not the water line) and place it over a bucket or something to hold the water. Activate the water dispenser just for a few seconds and watch if the water stops when the dispenser is released.
If water stops completely when releasing the dispenser, then there is an issue with the water line inside the fridge. If not, is better to get a new water valve instead of having a pool in your kitchen some day.
For parts or assistance about problems with your appliance, you can contact frigidaire at 1 (800) 374-4432 or (706) 860 4110
If it started after you replaced the filter, then that is where the problem lies. So, please unscrew the filter, check its washers and replace it. And tight this time. Do not over tighten it, else you may break something. No part are required for this operation. Only a little time and patience.
Water is precious (and getting scarce), DO NOT WASTE ANY.

- The filter may be OK. after re reading your problem, try the valve that you are doubting to be the source of leak as you have said that the water leaks after use. After use means the filter is not involved. On second thought (and reading), do check the valve on the water line.

- Since the water leaks after use, so it can not be the joint where the water is coming in from. It could be the outlet or somewhere after the filter. If you can, touch it and feel the wetness to check. If it was a big leak you could have seen it. small leaks are confirmed with wet fingers when you touch the parts.
