Question about Philips Magnavox 20MS3442 20" TV

3 Answers

It turns off and on at it's own will. I left the house today, came back and it was on. I turned it off for a few mins, turned it back on, and it wanted to go off and on every few seconds until I hit the power button while it was on. Turned it back on, and nothing so far.. a few mins later.

Yeah... there are no batteries in the remote control. That has been thought of before. It is not anybody sitting ont he remote control or a neighbor screwing with me. The TV set has changed locations with the same symptoms.

Okay, maybe I'm not being specific enough. Which component on the board or in the TV would cause this to happen? How can I narrow it down to which part is faulty? I have replaced many components on various boards previously, and would rather go that route than to pay 300 dollars for a new board for this 50 dollar TV, when it was only a simple piece on the board that needed to be replaced or rebuilt.

You need to have someone resolder FBT flyback and all poor connections on chassis and to make sure your front buttons to TV clean them with contact cleaner sometimes they become dirty and just need to be cleaned real good Rca is the worlds worst to do this they turn themselfs off.on change channel vol goes up and down. Also you could have a defective relay switch or it just needs to be resolder 4 leggs. Start with cleaning front button contact switches on TV and change battery in hand unit .

Does this have a manual on/off button? If so try getting a little oil/WD 40 and spraying on the button (unplug tv first) and press on off several times to determine if the button is sticking, if this doesnt fix it you have a control panel/PCB board failure. ALso make sure no one is near you with the same tv and possibly affecting yours with the same remote..

Replace the remote control with a programmable type, you may want to bring the remote out to the car with you when you leave for work or elsewhere to check and see if when the remote is out of range the unit does the same strange symptom. if this doesn't work there is a faulty relay or the TV is picking up a signal from neighbors signal ( TV, Garage door opener, ETC.)

Low Fuel Cutting

ill fill up tomorrow morning. I slowed down to take a left hand turn. As soon as i started turning the bike started to cut out and hiccup like mad. I rode the corner out clutch in while giving it full wrist to keep it alive. As soon as the bike straightened back up it came back to life. It rained yesterday pretty hard so i drove to work but i bet $1000 dollars that if i fill it up today it will ride fine again. So the question is...clogged fuel filter, fuel pickup, fuel line? My guess is crap on the bottom of the tank and when low the fuel pickup is choking/starving on the sediment in turns. So im just throwing this out there, to see if anyone thinks this the right diagnosis. Thanks for any input.,Thats exactly what happens when you run out of fuel... so it could be a bad filter or pickup clogged.,,,
