Take a close look at the old debris door and determine whether or not you have the tools necessary to do the job. If you do, remove the old one. The new one will go one in exactly the opposite steps.

I took apart my Eureka 71B hand held vacuum and a small spring fell out. I don't know where it goes and can't find a manual anywhere. Help?

Lonny,
I have a 71-B2 model myself and if you can take a picture of the spring, I can try to take mine apart and see if I can figure out where your spring goes and get back with you.

My vaccuum cleaner has lost its suction, how can i fix this?

Your vacuum most likely has a clog in the hose somewhere. It's a dirty job, but usually pretty easy to fix. They usually clog where there is a bend in the hose, such as near the brushes or near the body of the vacuum itself. It would be helpful to know what kind of vacuum you have. Sometimes the bag is full and debris starts to back up. That fix is very, very easy. Sometimes there is a clog in the hose because something was vacuumed up that should have been picked up instead. I (unplugging the vacuum first) generally take apart a wire coat hanger to snake my way through the hose. You may have to unscrew the brush area of your vacuum to access that end of the hose.

Vacuum is clogged

Without specifics of Model, I can't tell you how. There are no clog ports in Dirt Devil vacuums. Usually a hose has to be removed to unclog.

Where do i attach the hose

The hose should be fixed beside the canister that collects the debrie, you may have to open a door/plastic cover to access it.

The belt broke and not sure if I try to fix myself if that will void warrenty. Have 1 more year left

No, Replacing the belt is one of the maintenance things you can do without voiding your warranty.

Do you have a place to buy one, or would you need me to find a website for you online?

My shop vac does not seem to have as much pick up power as it once did. It will not even pick up small debris and paper.

Turning the unit on with the motor NOT inserted into the "can" do you see the impeller moving? Should be connected to the drive of the motor one way or another. Check for debris on both ends of the motor shaft to be sure the motor is moving freely. If possible, hit both ends with some WD 40 to reduce friction. Be sure the hose is clear. I push a broom handle through mine from time to time to see if there is anything clogging it. Tear in the hose or in the couplings? Tape or replace. When was the last time you replaced or cleaned the filter?

Debris getting stuck in vacuum hose

Check that the filters are completely clean. If there are clogged they would have to be washed and then dried to room temp (or a low temp tumble dryer, put the filters into a pillow case with a towel and install into the machine) Tip the bissell backwards to make sure the bottom bin is pushed and locked all the way in. Only when the two seals meet will you know that the bin has locked in properly. Unhook by prising the main hose at the back off to check for clogs as well as the main hose at the bottom and the main dust channel at the sole plate where the roller bar is. You may have to remove the bottom plate to check for any obstructions behind the brush bar.
I have the Easy vac myself. Its not an Easy machine to maintain when it gets clogged!
