This will work on Fluidmaster fill valves

start by turning off the water supply to the toilet

with one hand, grasp the fill valve to support it

with your other hand, press down the cap on the top of the valve and twist (it's slightly like removing a cap from a child resistant pill bottle)

carefully turn on the water on, flushing out any contaminates

The arm controls the Flush Valve. Inside the flush valve is a black rubber "seal" that closes the end of the fill pipe and stops the water. If a piece of sand, grit, or small rock gets imbedded in the seal it will allow water to pass through even when the tank is full. Either you take apart the flush valve and remove the grit, or you replace the whole valve. Sometimes even when the grit is removed the rubber seal is damaged and must be replaced. A new valve, and some of these replacement seals can be purchased at a good hardware or plumbing supply store. Use the valve handle, below the tank, on the pipe that comes through the wall, to turn off the water before replacing the seal or valve.

The tank is filling very slowly. The little hose coming from the side of the unit is plugged, no water is flowing thru it during tank filling.

Fluid master comes apart at top.Turn counter clockwise to unsnap .You will see water valve seal. take seal out and clean out any grit. reasemble and should work. hope this helps.

Changed the flapper on my toto toiet and yet still there is a hissing from the fill valve, any suggestions?

changing the flapper will not help the fill valve if it is not shutting off. It is not shutting off all the way once the water fills up, you either need to replace the seal in the fill valve or replace the fill valve. They can get grit in them or get scaled up and they stop working properly.

Cold water dribbles in rinse cycle, hot and warm water fine

If you check the warm water flow you'll likely find it is HOT...and not warm. Check the faucet end of hose to see if screen is clogged. Should be screened washer with the dome portion of the screen facing out at you. Remove it and clean with brush to remove grit or scale from screen. If you find nothing there you need to replace the water fill valve located at the other end of the hoses. Good Luck

Usually, there is a diaphram located at the needle valve that can be removed and cleaned and or replaced. If you know you have grit in the water, then you are right, that will cause problems with the fill valve not fully closing.

Slow fill

If you found heavy grit deposits in the hose screens, check the fitting on the machine where the hoses connect; you may have junk still laying in the fitting. If you don't find any obvious reason for the slow fill, you may have a fouled fill control valve that will have to be replaced. This is an inexpensive ('cause they are made crappy) part and fairly easy to replace. The hose fittings on the machine are actually part of the valve assembly.

Hi. I take it that the machine is of the condenser - dryer type?

In these machines, during the drying cycle, warm air is circulated inside the drum and a cold plate is either splashed with cold water or has cold water running through it, causing moisture from the clothes to condense on the cold plate - just like moisture in a room condenses on a cold window pane on cold days.

If your machine is continuing to fill up slowly with water after it has been switched off, then I would suspect the cold water inlet valve isn't closing properly. This is likely due to a build up of grit inside the valve.

If you turn off the cold water supply you will be able to remove the cold supply pipe from the machine and - hopefully - see some of the grit on the filter gauze. The grit possibly causing your problem is already inside the elcetically controlled inlet valve, so it may need to be removed and cleaned or replaced.

You should be able to check if this is the problem by just turning off the cold water supply to the machine. No supply means no water can get into the machine, so it shouldn't fill up overnight.

Before removing the filter down at the bottom of the machine you could turn the machine on to a spin or pump out cycle - that way you shouldn't need wellington boots when you removed the filter :-)
Hope this helps a bit. If not, add a comment and I will try to help you further. D.

Code F/H

cark, F11 code means that no water is being detected entering the machine or the pressure switch trip is not detected. Usually I find the flow meter to be the culprit when this code comes up. What you need to do first is drop the lower panel by removing the 3 screws that secure it. Right in front you will find the pump filter. Remove the cap and clean the filter. Make sure to have some towels handy for excess water. The flow meter sits on top right in front of the fill valve. It's just a small reed valve that measures the amount of water entering. Easy to change out. Remove the 3 screws in back holding the top on and slide the top back. On the left you will see the fill valve (where the hoses connect) and from there a hose going to the flow meter. First make sure that the hoses going to the washer are not plugged with grit at the valve. Then check that the harnesses to the inlet valve, flow meter and pressure switch are on secure. Another thing to check is to make sure the washer is not siphoning ( draining)during fill. When all is said and done, usually this problem is in the flow meter. Sometimes, the pressure switch itself. I know this is a lot to grasp but at least you know what's going on in the event you have to call for service....Catriver postback

Water filling

Before you replace the water valve itself, take the hot water hose off and inspect the screen at the valve inlet. There could be a lot of grit restricting it. If the screen is clear, than I would be in agreement with you that it is the valve itslef..hope this helps you.
