Question about Garden

1 Answer

Murray model 42590x92A won't go. Replaced motion drive belt, adjusted clutch. It will take off, then slows down and eventually stops, just sits there and shakes. I chained it down in my shop, put a weight in the seat so I could try to find the problem, but it spins the tires, no problem. Any ideas?

LA105 mower won't move when put into gear

Is this happening in all gears or just one? Is the motor bogging at all. If not chances are the problem is in the drive belt to the transmission or in the transmission itself. Check to make sure you are getting it into gear. you should be able to feel the transmission hit a notch for each gear. If you can't, chances are the little module in the top of the trans that sets the gears has broken and needs to be replaced. Often these get sticky before going bad. If the motor is running normally though, it's not the engine, it's drive belt or transmission. with the mower off, you can check the drive belt tension by simply having the clutch pedal in the out (drive) position. In that position the drive belt should be tight enough that you really can't slide it in either direction without causing motion on the motor pulley. If it has slack in it, then your clutch is probably out of adjustment or your drive belt has stretched beyond it's working life. Have you smelled burning rubber at all.. if so the belt is probably slipping. If not, it's more likely that it's in the transmission.

My murray riding mower wont go in to gear ???

If you can select gears when the motors not running but not when it is then your drive belt is dragging.(trying to drive even when the clutch down). This is usually the belt guides not holding the belt in a neat loop off the pulleys front and back when the clutch is down.

The mower deck drive belt slipped off the idler pulley on my 42'' Murray riding mower deck because the idler pulley was worn out. I need to know how to loop the belt back around the pulleys after I replace...

Get the model number off the tractor, go to:

www.murray.com

enter the model number and you will find a manual with pictures of how to route the belts along with a lot of other good information

Clutch vibration and jerking at slow speeds.

Check the drive belt. It probably has chunks missing or at least has flat spots (narrow spots) that cause the belt to jump every time it goes around a pulley. That will set up a heck of a vibration. Also check the pulleys for free movement. The drive belt is above the blade drive belt....
