Echo srm-225 string broke off inside of the spool. How to get it out?

The solution that you posted is the one that I provided to myself. I guess it didn't do much good to respond to the link indicating that I solved the problem myself.

I solved the problem myself. I found the manual online and followed the directions that were given. Having the manual helped because it allowed me to know how to open up the spool without damaging it.

My echo srm 225 string trimmer line will not advance. Have rewound line and clear out grass from inside head.

Sometimes the spring may need extending as over time the bumping makes the spring lose its push tension causing no line advance

You are winding the line in the wrong direction. It should be wound on the spool in the opposite direction of the spin of the head during operation.

Good Luck!

Hi I have an ECHO SRM 225 trimmer. I received no manual when I bought it. I do not know how to spool a new string

Usually string trimmers come with line already in it. If there is no line in it take the head apart. how you do this is as you push down on the bump as you hold the bottom part of head and twist the head should come apart..to sting the trimmer some are different some you have to cut the string and wrap two strings two different ways some you use one long piece and you wrap it.... you will noticed on the head there will be little indicators that tell you which way to wrap the string.. if you have any questions please let me know..

Echo SRM 200 series trimmer is great. I noticed though this summer once I reel in the new string, a short time of trimming later, only 1 side of the string appears. When I open up the reel, the string is...

For your machine, make sure you are using the Manufacturer's recommended trimmer line. For your model, they recommend using Echo brand .080" Cross Fire diameter line. You also need to insure that when you load the spool with the line, that it is loaded (in the right direction) so it can feed properly.

I can't get the spool off of my echo srm 210 to replace the cutting line. There are no nuts or snaps that I can see. I know it should twist off, but I don't know how.

This is a link to full instructions, (page 27)

Hold body of string spool, turn smaller cap on end clockwise, as if you are tightening it, (left hand threads).

Don't know how to install new string on Echo SRM 2400

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.
