Question about Kitchen Ranges
The inner coil of the triple surface element quit working. Everything else on the cooktop and the oven is working fine.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I can't believe I found this today. Today, my Elite 790 inner coil also stopped working! A little too coincidental.
When I turn on the burner, I can hear like a relay click on, but it does not heat. The middle and outer burners are fine.

I have had the exact same problem and have only had the stove for 1.5 yrs.

I had the same concern on ours which is only 30 days old. The middle element was darker than the inner and outer. Service man just came. He called their technical department and was told that the middle element is supposed to not be as bright. He measured voltages to each element and the continuity of each element. Sears says it is supposed to be this way. Don't know if it's true. I do see that the middle element does react to being turned on (a little) but doesn't seem to add much heat. If it is truly correct, seems like a poor design. Takes forever to boil water on that burner.
I am having another item replaced on it. When the next service technician comes, I will ask the same question to see what they say.
If any others know if the Sear's info is correct or not, please post it.

Tips for a great answer:
To raise and lower the cooktop:
1. Remove all items from cooktop and set aside.
2. Grasp the sides of the cooktop and then lift from the
3. Lift the cookop high enough to allow the support rods
to snap into place. The llft-up rods will support the
cooktop in the raised position.
4. If necessary, clean underneath using hot, soapy water
and a clean cloth; then dry.
5. To lower the cooktop, grasp the front corner of each
side of the top while pushing back on each rod with
the heel of your hand. This will release the notched
support. Hold the range cooktop and gently slide the
top back down level to the range.
