If you used an incorrect fuel mixture you have a stuck piston ring which is giving you low compression. These units are extremely fuel mixture sensitive...too much oil causes carbon buildup, cylinder scoring and stuck piston ring. Take off the muffler and use a small pick to push on the piston ring...you should get some movement. If not ring is stuck. You may be able to see scoring as well.

Weed eater fb25 won't start

This blower is fuel sensitive! Gas and oil mixture has to be correct. Too much oil will cause carbon buildup in the cylinder. In my case my blower would not start after several uses this season. I checked EVERYTHING....spark, fuel delivery, air filter.....then checked the flywheel which has no separate key....the key is cast into the flywheel. Read somewhere about the carbon buildup so took the cylinder off and viola! The piston ring was firmly stuck in the piston groove plus the cylinder was carbon scored. I tried to gently pry the piston ring free but it was so firmly stuck, it broke. Not worth fixing. Take the muffler off and you will be able to see the piston ring....use a small pick or something to see if the ring is free. If not, proceed to tear down or throw out. I was able to see scoring on the piston and determine my ring was stuck this way. Remember the elements needed for successful ignition...fuel/air...spark....compression. Stuck ring = low compression. The last time you ran the blower the ring became stuck...the engine continued to run because of the engine rpm's but when you try to start at low RPM's, no luck.

My weedeater leaf blower never gets up to its' old speed. Runs about 1/2 the power. Tried a new spark plug and air filter. New gas didn't help.

Basics to check:
1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
- aluminum or silver - piston/cylinder scored
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Compression - 125 to 150 psi

3) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
5) replace gaskets/diaphragms
b) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb

Chaged gas and spark plug. Get no combustion

Make sure your getting a spark at the plug. Not much to these machines but verify good spark before anything else.

I'm unable to start the engine. It won't even kick over.

Most likely you have low compression caused by stuck piston ring or a scored piston and cylinder. This unit was made by Poulan and
they have had an epidemic of this problem. The solution is to tear the unit down and put in new piston rings. Before you install the
new rings you need to get a sheet of glass and some 600 grit wet dry sand paper. Sand each ring down about .002 to .003 and reinstall. This should solve your problem as long as you have good fire and the piston and cylinder is not scored.

Your cylinder could also just be worn out. This blower has a fairly short engine life.

You might also need to rebuild the carb.

Generally, these saws are set at the factory and aren't supposed to be adjusted. If you can remember how far you turned each screw I would suggest you turn it back to where it was. Turning the screws clockwise leans out the mixture and although it would seem to make it run better warm, it is too lean to start properly. If the engine doesn't start at the factory setting you probably need to take the carb apart and clean it and put a new kit in it.
