How do l fix an outboard motor that runs fine for about 5 minutes at full throttle and then abruptly stops and will not start until it sits for awhile?

Check that the priming bulb is fitted with the arrow pointing in the directions of flow to the engine. Make sure the vent is open on the fuel tank. Check all fuel lines for kinks or blockage. If none of that fixes it, you need a marine engineer to check the fuel pump and carbs.

What is the correct fuel mix ratio?

Hi Ron:
I'm assuming we're dealing with a 2 cycle outboard, without oil injection.
Best to provide the year, make, and size (HP) to get the really correct answer.
Otherwise, most current 2 cycle engines work with 50:1
Some older outboards ran with 32:1
If you google your engine info with the key words "fuel/oil ratio" you should get the exact info.

What is the fuel mixture for a 9.9 mercury outboard motor?

With modern oils all 2 cycle engines (if it is a 2 cycle) can be safely mixed at 50:1. Most auto parts stores will carry the proper 2 cycle oil for outboard engines.

Why won't my Mercury Optimax 150 outboard start up. Engine turns over just fine, and there's 2 beeps to the throttle box.

I usually do cars and trucks, but if you are getting an electronic beep, you might go online and refer to an engine Manual for what you own. You may have a low oil lockout for the crankcase on a 4 cycle or a low oil cutoff alert for a 2 cycle with an automatic oil feed mixer. Some transition of inboard-outboard technology to outboards can include tilt lockout so that you can not start up in gear. Most prevent the starter from turning, but could keep the engine from firing if they want to wire it that way. With the "beeps" it would seem to be a Code.

Petrol ratio for fs38

Hi graham
I mix my oil to gas at 50:1 for my weedtrimmer at my house and it works just fine.
50:1= 2.5 oz 2 cycle oil and 1 gallon of gasoline.
Use a high quality 2-cycle engine oil.
Do not use automotive oil or 2-cycle outboard oil.
