Try to plug this into another desktop or laptop, ensuring that it is not your computer in question. Also, try plugging it into another usb port on the same computer. Sometimes lightning and other problems like bent USB port pins cause this problem. 4 pins, 2 for power, 2 for information from usb item to pc can show power but not any movement. Remember to press the red button on the usb plug in puck or plug depending on which version of this mouse you have, and then the black link button on the base of the mouse.

Other possible issues could be water damage or dropping it causing microfractures in the green pc board in the mouse, or the components soldered to it. Sort of like when a statue breaks, it gets cracks, but in this case, the cracks stop communications in side the mouse from connecting. Remember, try a different pc first. Then try the same pc, and also look inside your usb ports to make sure they are not really loose or some pins inside are not bent or broken. Finally, the link button may be the real issue, but not withstanding the possibility of electrical discharge from a lightning strike or other shorting damages.

Heres a Link on how u can resolve this issue..
if even after performing all the steps mentioned in the document.. and if ur computers under warranty then contact HP and get the mouse replaced.. ;) but before u do so.. do try to download the updates from HP.. and do inform about all the steps u tried to perform and yes one more thing u can do.. click Start--All Programs -- PC Help and Tools (if its a HP Computer) and open Diagnostic Tool.. and select Communication and run a test on Mouse.. if test fails.. go ahead contact HP.. and get the mouse replaced..
let me know if this resolved ur issue.. regards, guru

Hi. My Belkin Mini-Wireless Optical Mouse has stopped working. The batteries are fresh but no curser working - any ideas? Rgds

Please connect the mouse to another computer to rule out if the device has failed. If it works on another system you may be dealing with a messed up driver. Please comment this posted on your test results to receive the best answer.

Wireless mouse curser does not move new batteries installed

If the mouse totally stop working like left/right click, moving, etc then i suggest replace the battery of your mouse and try. If the same result then again install the driver & restart the netbook.
Thanks waiting for your feedback.

Changed battery and now doesn't work. red light is on bottom of mouse, but curser won't move on screen

There is a reset button on both receiver and mouse you must reset every time you change batteries. Normally the receiver one first.

Mouse wont work

Replace the batteries; even if the batteries still work, if it is low on power, sometimes the mouse won't work.
