My Dell keeps crashing so I want to format and start again but it wants an administrator password. As far as i know i haven't set one so i can't go any further. I've tried to guess it but it says my account has been disabled. Any help appreciated.
If the system is asking for an administrator password in Windows and you are wanting to format and reinstall the system, then the password shouldn't be an issue. Most inspiron systems are equipped with a PC Restore partition CTRL+F11 just after the Dell Splash Screen should enable the restore process. If PC Restore doesn't work, then boot to the XP CD and format the NTFS partition and install Windows XP clean. If you have Windows Vista, the PC Restore is run from the F8 Boot menu. If no restore partition is accessible in Vista, then again Boot to the Vista DVD and format the NTFS partition and install VIsta.
