5 rapid red blinks on the LED

I have a Pioneer Plasma PDP-503PE. It stopped working and whenever I try and turn it on it just starts blinking 5 rapid red blinks on the LED.

Any thoughts on what it might be?

No device was connected to teh TV - I found the manuals and they said that 5 blinking red LED's meant the power supply had failed.

Any ideas where to get a well priced one at all? Or could ti just be some resisters need replacing? I hear they pop after abotu 1000hours on a lot of TVs

Solution for error 1, 5 beeps,

For video data transmission from the Media Receiver to the PDP-434HD
and PDP-504HD-series Plasma Displays, digital signals are used.
Therefore, this unit adopts the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content
Protection) system for copyright
protection. This unit is also provided with a detection switch (TRAP
switch) that will prohibit the unit from being turned on again "if the
upper plate of the unit is accidentally opened," in order to prevent
the panel technology from being leaked out.
The TRAP switch is disabled while the unit is turned off. When
performing internal diagnosis of the PDP, fix the switch to the OFF
position using adhesive tape before turning on the
unit. After servicing, be sure to remove the adhesive tape.

Well you've probably guessed what my next question is......How do i
unlock this receiver?. I'm told that it's simply a matter of keying in
3 buttons of the remote in a defined sequence. I have the service
manual but it doesn't say much about unlocking.

"The next generation of Blu Ray players will be equipped with
powerful explosives that will kill everybody in sight if the unit detects
possible tampering or if someone puts a DVD+R in it." )

( They use a photocell to kill the DVI board if light hits it
(as in the backboard removed). The TV continues to work, but not in
HD.
bypass the Pioneer's switch, or put black tape over the photocell.

Did you have any device connect to the TV?

The five beeping lights is audio failure IC5000 Shutdown 3 seconds after waring. Shutdown by warning of speaker failure. Need to check and secure, proper connection to speakers.

I guess you just can win because, either way your will still have to have a service adjustment, and buy the x y boards too. But, it may even be worst, because when they replace everything, their going to install a nice little inductor between everything in addition. The additional upgrade that they'll preformed is to allow the TV to have a good stability and strength. Hope this helps.

It is possible since I'm overwhelmed, and new at FixYa. I believe I had the right code but, you may try to bid one on ebay, A lot of times, you can set your bid and get it cheap. The resistor can be pick up at any electronic supply company and are not that much. I still encourage you to do the service adjustment no matter what the fault. Power supply goes out, it's real hard on the other components and may have damage something else.

G3 P2 board power supply problem, check for fuses blown in and around p2 board and supply, along with any discrete component damage. After repairs you might have to follow trap and release procedures. Thought, I'd tell you that so, you wouldn't get it fixed and not work. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't take chance on getting a cheap supply, if needed. New one should give less chance of it being shorted, or warn down helping the TV's components.

I'm sure this is a G3 unit but, is it possible that this model is a PDP-503PU? If it is loaded with extras then it just isn't on my list.

As far as your comment that some of these parts lasting an 1000hours. Under normal use, that's probably right most of the times.

Hi, I have a Pioneer plasma 'pdp-50mxe20' and when I turn it on it after a few seconds it goes off and the red led start blinking 8 times

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Pioneer PDP-436PU TV blinks red 10 times

Most likely a bad power supply board= you are going to have to find a Pioneer dealer to get it fixed or even get the part--many shops including the one I work for will not touch this brand of set.

I have a Pioneer Plasma PDP-4360HD (display PDP-436PU) which I thought had a broken Y-sustain board based on the blinking LED warning. I replaced it myself but it it still doing the same thing: no picture...

Usually when you change the Y-sustain you must change the buffer board(s) This is the long thin board(s) on the far left side going up and down in the set.

lenwas,
I have the exact same problem with the same model tv. It just stopped working, tv has no lights or evidence of power and the red standby light on the media center flashes without any other function potential.
I checked the internal tv fuse and it was measuring continuity.
If you figure anything out I'd be interested to hear it.
