have a sony bravia 32" streekes across tv then blanks out will go back on being off for hour only temperally

My Sony Grand WEGA 50" TV suddenly would provide only sound no pic for a few minutes, then turn off. The next day the TV would not stay on (no pic, no sound) and turned itself off. I don't know if this is a lamp problem or firmware problem. I guess I should contact Sony to rule out firmware issue first, then pursue lamp secondly. Does that sound reasonable? other ideas? I'm lost so any advice in terms of steps to take would be helpful. Thanks, Sue

My kv27v65 turns on then within 3 seconds turns off. Indeed it has sound. Also notice small red light blinking on bottom front control panel afterwards which continuously blinks 4 times then pauses and repeats indefinitely.

I have been having the same problem. The lamp was replaced by tech sent by Best Buy, a month ago, and the problem still exists.

It may not be the lamp, Sony had some issues with their firmware for some of the TV sets, and they only require a refresh of the firmware. I suggest that you call Sony and ask them if it effects your particular model and serial number.

TV goes on and off by itself is 99% a result of a bad lamp. You must replace your Lamp in order to fix this unit. Average cost for lamp is $200. Lamp part number: A-1606-034-B

Turns on immediately turns off

check for shorted component parts at power supply board like bridge type diode and FET transistor. if those are good, disconnect the connectors that supply going to inverter board and then turn on the tv unit if the light indicator at front panel stay and 24v supply doesn't drop which mean the inverter board was the problem of suddenly turn off.

Stupid tv!

Sounds power supply board is bad in your TV and most probably replacement of all electrolytic capacitors in power supply board will solve the issue.
Take TV to local TV repair shop for repair.

Sony triniton tv turns on and immediately switches off on it s own

We had a bad storm and lots of lightening. After that my tv (which is plugged into a surge protector) would turn on and then immediately turn off. I unplugged the TV from the surge protector and plugged it into a different outlet and it works now.
