Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I was trying to remove the light bulb from my sewing machine and the bulb came away from the socket, leaving the metal screw-in part behind. I tried using plyers but it appears to be stuck. Can you help me?

Turn the power off and place the machine on it's end so that you can see clearly into the socket.
Bend an L in the pointed end of a nail.
Fill the socket with enough hot glue to securely hold the head of the nail and let it harden. Using pliers, grasp the bent part and push in and turn counter-clockwise.

How to remove a light bulb cap from overlocker sewing machine

There are two ways to do this Agatha, and I have done it both ways.

TURN THE MACHINE OFF AND REMOVE THE PLUG FROM THE WALL SOCKET!!!

Pull the glass globe of the light from the base. Use a dinner knife to push into the bulb base until it grips, release a little and turn anticlockwise.

OR

Pull the glass globe of the light from the base. Use a pair of needle nose pliers and grip the edge of the base between the jars. Whilst maintaining grip, twist the pliers anticlockwise. This will roll the thin base around the pliers, loosen the base in the fitting and make it very easy to unscrew.

Put a little Vaseline or oil on the new bulb threads and don't overtighten it.

Let me know how you get on Agatha by way of COMMENT below my post.

How do I replace light bulbs in a Bernina sewing machine model 1080?

Check the bulb model number old versus new and make sure you have the same number bulb. The bulb number should be on the base of the bulb somewhere. If the bulb has tabs sticking out of the base, check to see that they are placed such that both tabs are on the same plane on the bulb base. Some bulbs have offset tabs that only go in one way to the socket. Try rotating the bulb 180 degrees and insert it again to the socket before trying to rotate it. Check your manual for bulb replacement procedure. Make sure also that you didn't rotate the glass bulb out of its base when you pulled the old one out, leaving the old base still stuck in the bulb socket. If this is the case, unplug the machine and use needle-nose pliers to remove the old bulb base before trying to replace the bulb.

How do I replace the light bulb on a Singer sewing machine Athena model 2009 ?

I'm not familiar with this model, but in some machines, the bulb is in a socket underneath the arch. On some machines, you open the side door above the needle mechanism and the bulb is in there.

If you can reach the bulb, depending on the machine, some have a small screw in lamp, just like a regular light bulb, But others use push in bulbs. Typically you remove it by pushing in gently, and turning it as you do so, so it pops out. If one way isn't working, turn the other way. Replace the same way, turning in the other direction.

Replace light bulb

Make sure power is turned off. Get a pair of pointy nose pliers (may need to try a couple of sizes to get correct one). Use these to get hold of the metal light base and remove. Will probably need to turn base to release.

Need to replace light bulb - old bulb broke out but metal part still there

Turn off the power.

There are two base types; screw in and bayonet.

With needle nose pliers try to get hold of the metal base.

If it will not turn (left for loose; right for tight), then it may be the bayonet type base: press in, turn and pull out.

Berninas usually come with a bulb remover. It is a plastic tube about 2" long that everyone wonders..what the heck is this.

I have an Elna Super sewing machine that was my mothers. I do not have the manual and need to know how to change the light bulb. Thanks.

I have an Elna TSP (about 35 years old) that I believe is about the same as yours. There is a small hold on the top of the sewing machine (not an oiling hold) near the front. Use the small screw driver that came with the machine and push it down into the hole. The light bulb will be pushed down in back of the needle. The bulb has a bayonet type socket and you have to push up and twist the bulb to remove it. This is not striaght forward and you really need the owners manual to figure it out. If you do not have the original screwdriver, one from an eyeglass repair kit might work. I found your question because I am trying to locate a replacement bulb for my Elna.

Need to locate a lamp changer for the Pfaff 7570

You my be able to change the light bulb without one. On some versions of the Pfaff 7570, you can remove the left end of the machine to access the bulb socket: remove the top cover that has all the designs pictured on it. Lift the carrying handle. Immediately behind the handle is a hole about 3mm in diameter. Down in that hole, probably too far down to see, there is a phillips head screw. Drop a Phillips head screwdriver into the hole, set it into the screw head and unscrew that screw. This will loosen the left end cap. Pull toward the left to remove this piece and you can access the bulb and socket.

I bought a new sewing machine light bulb to replace the one that burned out but can't get it ot screw in the socket. Are all sewing machines bulbs universal?

your bulb part number is X53061020 and no the blubs are not universal I would suggest taking the old bulb with you along with the part number I gave you in order to get the right bulb when you go to the store.

I have a Pfaff 7570 and I would like to adjust the thread tension. Most of the time when embroidering it is set at 1 or 0...and never higher than 3-4. Also I can't get the light bulb end out. it broke...

Lift top cover. remove top cover (flat springs on each end of cover - move one with your finger and top will come off. Lift handle. Look to right of handle end over the head. There is a screw there. LOOSEN screw and front cover will slide away from head. Bunch up a paper towel or napkin and press into broken bulb socket and turn same counter clockwise to get bulb socket out. Good Luck!
