Hi Thanks for this, The device already has this version of firmware. However I am reading about in the forums that people have tried some beta versions of this firmware and I was asking where I could get hold of these Beta versions of firmware.

It is ok if you can not find it.

    I very much Appreciate it.

    Thanks for now.

There's a firmware update available on Linksys' site (v1.1.09). Apparently, this update fixes quite a lot. So much so, that after installing it you MUST reset to factory defaults. So, make sure you update the firmware first thing, and then reset. Don't use any old setups.

please rate this solution on how it helped.

many thanks nick

    1. htttp://www.linksys.com
    2. Change "Country" on the top left to "United Kingdom"
    3. Then Click "Downloads" at the top of the page
    4. Select "RVS4000 V1.0", click "Downloads for this product"
    5. Then Click on "Firmware"
    6. Download version "1.0.15"

Looks to me that version 1.0.15 is lower than the version you allready have. I'm looking for version 1.1.28.

How do I hard reset the RVS4000?

The Router’s ports and Reset button are located on the back panel of the Router. You can find a small push button with "Reset" written above it.
You can use the reset button:
If the Router is having problems connecting to the Internet. Press the Reset button for just a second with a paper clip or a pencil tip.
If you are experiencing extreme problems with the Router and have tried all other troubleshooting measures, press and hold in the Reset button for about 10 seconds. This will restore the factory defaults and clear all of the Router’s settings, such as port forwarding or a new password.
All The Best!!!

I have two RVS4000 with the tunnel up, I cannot see any packets at the other end. I see the packets entering the tunnel but nothing at other end. Could it be the MTU is wrong

NO those routers are horrible.....return them as defective if you can and get the rv042 yes they are only 10/100 but they work.

Router settings to allow MacPro to access corporate VPN through router

The university that I attend compiled a great guide for setting up their VPN off campus. These should work for you as well:

http://www.it.ubc.ca/security/VPN/setupdocs.html

So far as I can tell, you shouldn't have to change the settings on your router to access a VPN from your home.

I have two RVS 4000 routers with pulic IP's connected VPN to each other. The Ip's on each end are 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1. No firewalls. I cannot see the ping request on other network ???? I can see...

non public ips mean the 192.168.x.x. addresses you are referring to ... since they form a virtual private network it is normal .. see if ping protocol is disabled ..the other router just discarding the ping packets... you may have to check the route a packet is taking without VPN ...it can be complex without a network diagram.

run netstat on the lan pc to see if telnet server is listening on port 23. look at logs on the router and pc to see if it is blocking any traffic. make sure lan pc has route back to wan

it seem that your best bet would be to look into remote access programs that can be found easily on google.com. I would suggest browsing some of the options you find on there.
