Question about Microwave Ovens
My Panasonic Microwave Oven NN-E 548C suddenly stopped working - there is no power getting through - no clock, no display, etc. Have checked fuse, which was OK. Have now taken cover off and have found another fuse - it's white and bigger than a normal 13A fuse, with '10A' inscribed on the metal end cap. Below the fuse holder it says:''Hawker 10A Special Fuse''. Can anyone advise whether this fuse is likely to be the cause of the problem and if so, where I can obtain a replacement (in UK)? If not, can anyone please advise what might be the cause of the problem?
Check continuity of this 10A fuse to see if it's blown.
What is most likely to have happened, is that an internal short has happened inside the main transformer. These cannot be rectified, and often means scrapping the complete item due to cost of replacement.
However - if you can find another microwave with a different fault - just remove the good transformer.
Checking the transformer for a short at high voltage is not recommended.
You could try a spare 10A fuse as a start point (probably a leaded type) - but expect it to blow again. DON'T go higher or omit !
