From the HP site:

There could a problem in the pickup assembly area of the product. There are two black Mylar light shields approximately 3.5 inches long. They are located on both sides of the pickup roller under the pickup roller rod. One or both of these black Mylar shields can be tucked under, or partially bent when removing a paper jam from the paper input tray slot.
Reposition the black Mylar light shields back into the proper position.

  1. Unplug the power cord from the product.
  2. Remove the paper and paper input tray.
  3. Slide hands, palms side up, into the paper input tray cavity (see figure) until the fingertips reach the end of the cavity.

I have an HP Laserjet - 64fc86f.jpg

4. Bend fingers up to push the black Mylar light shields back into place. The proper position of the black Mylar light shield will be flat.
5. Reconnect the power cord.
6. Print a self-test/configuration page to verify product is functioning correctly.
If still a problem, make sure that the tray, paper size is locked in the correct position. Sometimes the spring in the tray can become worn out and loose. You can take that out and spread it out a little. Also, make sure that the tray bottom is free to move. Take out the paper and see if it goes up and down correctly. If you don't hear the pickup roller moving or the motor running you may have a bad feed roller gear. There also, could be a problem with the pickup roller.

Hope this helps.

Envelopes don't feed properly

When printing envelopes, you have to set tray1(the bypass tray) to handle the envelopes in the menu.
Configure trays (HP LaserJet P2050 Series Printers only)
1. Press OK.
2. Press the down arrow to select System setup, and then press OK.
3. Press the down arrow to select Paper setup, and then press OK.
4. Press the down arrow to select the desired tray, and then press OK.
5. Press the down arrow to select Paper type or Paper size, and then press OK.
6. Press the down arrow to select the size or type.
7. Press OK to save the settings.

Seems like the rubber feeder wheels won't pick-up the paper to feed... what can I do to get my HP 870cse to feed?

Usually that is caused by foreign object restricting the operation.
take the feeding tray out and open the top and examine it for foreign objects. It may need a little cleaning.

Hp laserjet 1200 series printer with high pitch nose when in printing process. During this loud noise, the roller turns but the paper is not picked up therefore printing does not occur.

noise is caused by the toner cartridge and paper is not going trough because there is a plastic milar clse to the feed roller that is bent, find it and push it towards the inside of printer (is a black or dark brown plastic mylar)

Not feeding paper looks like wheels not turning

Look down into the place where the paper goes (the "automatic sheet feeder" or ASF) and you should see a fat wheel with a grey ribbed rubber facing. Place a single sheet of paper in the ASF and do a test print (right click the printer icon and select properties). Watch to see what happens in the ASF. The plastic panel behind the sheet of paper should move forward to push the sheet against the rotating rubber wheel, which should then feed the paper into the print position. If this is not happening, it means something has come adrift inside the ASF system. This will require the printer to be dismantled. Take it to a Technician, or if you want to have a go yourself, post a new comment to this effect and I will provide further assistance on how to proceed.

Laserjet Printer

if it seems like it wants to take the paper in on the first print but don't and then gives you the error message , then the paper feeder will need to be cleaned ( rubber grabing wheels)
if the error message comes on before it trys to grab paper , then there is an internal problem with the printer

if this helps you then please give a fixya rating and i will tell you how to clean the paper feeder rollers

Paper tray does not feed at all or may jam several papers

The rubber wheels that feed the paper in can be too soft to grip the paper.
After a long dicussion with the help desk, HP supplied me with a special Paper Feed Cleaning Kit for the 3200 series. This comprises a scraper device that you insert into the paper feeder, and a driver CD. I had to use it three times, Now everything woerk fine.

Good luck!

top feeder for the scanner (on my x6570) had a loose piece of rubber stuck between the feed wheels. The rubber is part of the guiding mechanism that guides the paper to the feed wheels. Remove rubber strip and reattach it where it belongs.

My Epson C 84 had something jammed into the paper feed and once the item (a blind pull from the window) was dislodged it will not fee paper or print. any words of advice?

It seems likely that the feed mechanism has been dislodged or broken in some way.

If this is not happening you will need to dismantle the printer to investigate further.

If you wish to do this, post a new comment to this effect and I will provide further help.
