OS failed now installation screen stuck

I downloaded a new os from TI's website. So I went to install it. Everything was going fine but when it finished the computer gave a failed notice, and the calculator is frozen on the software installation screen and says "waiting to receive"...The usb recognizes my calculator but status is not detectable SO therefore I can't reinstall the os or even restore my calculator.

here is my problem. The installation is over. Has been over for several days. But that installation screen is still stuck on my calulator. When it was installing the calculator went all the way to 99% and then stopped. I have tried taking out the batteries and all that good stuff. The main problem is I can't use TI connect to put a new OS on my calculator. Because it detects my calcualtor but its status is not detectable therefore it won't allow me to do anything throw ti connect or anything else as far as I know

Hello,
I suggest you interrupt the installation with [Esc] or [Diamond][QUIT]. Then download the OS on your computer and drag and drop OS on the open window of TI Connect to transfer it to calculator.
Press the [Diamond][QUIT] several times. If it refuses, all that is left for you to do is remove main batteries and restart the installation as described above.
Hope it helps.

Here is additional info from the TI kmowlege base

    For the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family, and Voyage™ 200:
Try a new set of AAA batteries (AA batteries on the TI-92 Family).

    1. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the Diamond key followed by pressing and releasing the [+] key; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the [-] key.

    2. Users of the TI-89 Titanium or Voyage 200 should see the following case before performing the following reset procedure to prevent the loss of valuable Apps.
On the TI-92 family or Voyage 200, hold the [2nd] key and the [hand] key, then press and release the [ON] key. On the TI-89 family, press and hold the [2nd] key, left arrow, and right arrow; then press and release the [ON] key. This should reinitialize the operating system, in which you should see a progress bar filling on the screen.

    3. Remove one of the AAA or AA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. TI-89, 92 Plus, or Voyage 200 users should see "Press I to install code...", and should press the [9] key. The calculator should then say, "Waiting to receive...". TI-89 Titanium users should see "Waiting to receive..." or "Waiting to received OS...". You will need to restore the calculator's operating system.

Hi kelsers,

You need to re-install your calculator's OS. After this process your Ti 89 Titanium will operate properly. If you do the process below make sure you use new batteries.

Warning!!! If you do this procedure make sure that your computer and, calculator are connect. Use Ti Connect software and, make sure you can install the OS on the calculator without any interruption. At any time even at the very beginning of this process, if your computer or, calculator gets interrupted or you have a power failure during the installation of the OS, your calculator will be destroyed. So not attempt this procedure during a thunder storm.

You can use the Ti OS Downloader but, you will have no idea what OS is stored by the Ti OS Downloader. So, I suggest following my instructions and, installing the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v.

Procedure to installing the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v.

You can also get the latest copy of Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v." Once your at the Ti site click the Download Item, Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. will download to you. Click, "SAVE". And then a folder will pop up. It is probably a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, "Save as" to this folder, "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads". You can also go back and, download the Ti 89 Titanium guidebook too, if needed.

Link your computer and calculator with the USB cable or, Direct Black Link cable that came with the calculator.

Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. On the older TI-89 you should see "Press I to install code...", and you should press the [9] key to continue. But, on your Ti 89 titanium it should say, "Waiting to receive..." or, "Waiting to received OS...". Now you need to follow the instructions in the paragraph below to restore the calculator's operating system.

Next, drag the Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. that you copied earlier to "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads" out of that folder and, drop it in the "Ti Connect" icon on the desktop. Next the OS Downloader Warning will pop-up. Click, "OK" to continue and, the new OS will begin to install. The Ti Device window should pop up and, click on to the port where your Ti 89 Titanium is located, USB1 cable or Direct Black COM1. Just click, "Select" and, the OS will continue to download. Upon completion the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.01v. will be installed.

Press the [Diamond][QUIT] several times. If it refuses, all that is left for you to do is remove main batteries and restart the installation as described above.

I tried updating the OS on my TI-89 Titanium and when it was done, my screen only shows a black bar going across the top. What has happen and how do i fix it?

There is a progress bar while downloading and installing the OS
if it doesn't go away and you can't use your TI then you can re-install the OS
When you do re-install the OS just re-download a second copy from the Texas Instruments
website and use that. Do not unplug the calculator until you see the normal homescreen and everything is fully working again.

Error message for TI-84 Plus

Try and resolve this issue by re-installing the calculator's operating system using the TI OS Downloader. To do this, please follow the steps listed below. Be sure you have fresh batteries in your calculator.

1. Download the OS 2.43 file to your computer (preferably the desktop).

2. Open the TI OS Downloader by going to Start>>Programs>>TI Tools>>TI Connect>>TI OS Downloader. If you do not see TI OS Downloader, you may need to install the latest version of TI Connect. You can download a free copy from:
www.education.ti.com/downloadticonnect

3. From the main screen, select your calculator and cable type. Click "Next" to continue.

4. From this screen, locate the OS 2.43 file by clicking on the yellow browse folder and navigating to the location where you downloaded it. Double-click the OS 2.43 file to select it.

5. Remove one triple A battery from your TI-84 Plus. With the battery removed, press and hold the [DEL] key while you re-insert the battery.

6. You should see a "Waiting..." message on the screen of your calculator. If so, disconnect the USB cable from your computer, re-connect it and then click "Start Download". This should begin the OS transfer process.

Wont reinstall OS (error message during installation)

I had a very similar problem when trying to install the new OS. The way I got it working was

1. make sure you have fresh batteries in.
2. Find a new computer which you have not used neither TI connect nor the calculator on.
3. Download the OS to this computer from Ti´s webpage
4. Install Ti connect and the calculator on this machine 100 % correct! (check other help files for this)
5. Go into Ti connect, and it should find the calculator now.
6. Use the "device explorer" and then the "OS downloader" directing the downloader to the path where you have already downloaded the OS to the computer.

I hope this helps you out...
