This one can be difficult to track down. You've most likely got an electrical component or poor connection which is opening up as current passed through it and it warms up. Check the connections of the power cord to the dryer, the connections inside the home's dryer recepticle, and the connections in the home's breaker box. (of couse, proper percautions need to be observered to prevent electrical shock hazard when doing these tests) If those are all good and tight, some times a small item like a 6931EL3002A thermostat, located on the blower housing inside the dryer, can cause those symptoms. That one can be jumpered and run for a few minutes to see if it is the one at fault. Items like the thermister (6323EL2001B) (also on the blower housing) can not be jumpered to test.

WHY IS MY LG GAS DRYER NOT ADVANCING TO COOL DOWN CYCLE?

If its a newer dryer, they have moisture sensors that determine if it should shut down early or stay on longer if needed. Let it run the extra time and see what happens. If it keeps doing it, then the sensor is defective.

Maytag dryer stops after few minutes

ELECTRIC Dryer no heat or little heat, or shuts down to fast:

Check your venting and lint basket. Check blower for lint build up and blower wheel obstruction., test by trying to turn the wheel manually by hand (should be easy) May have to remove cabinet or front/back plate to get to it)

Next check the heating element itself with a meter for continuity OHMS CLOSED CIRCUIT. If not its defective.

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage. 220 because if u only get half or 110 volts you will be able to run the machine which uses only 110 to run motor but not the heater which uses a full 220,

Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.
A failed moisture sensor will affect the dryer run time in the automatic moisture sensing cycle but it will not affect the heating of the dryer or the timed cycle.

Dryer runs for 10 mins and shuts off.

Your dryer motor has a thermal overload built in to it. If your symptom is shutting down allow to cool and it works again for a few minutes the shuts down again.

If the dryer shut in 10 to 15 minuts

Possible that there is overload and it can trip the motor. You need to observe this to confirm. Also check for free movement of the rotor and the motor drive.
Finally a fault on the timer can also cause this issue and you need to clarify further.

When the button is pressed to start the dryer it begins to hum as iff the drum is stuck. It does this for about 5 to 10 seconds then shuts off. If I attempt to start it again nothing happens. sound like...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

Have a 90 series kenmore dryer, won't always run. replaced the motor about 6 months ago, and now it will sometimes run, sometimes not. It gets hot, and will run for a bit then shut down, then start up...

If the timer is not advancing but is ticking that could be the problem. A dryer achieves a set temperature and stays there for a certain amount of time during a cycle. If the time never changes it may just keep heating up until the heat sensor shuts it down. If it is starting and shutting down its likely still related to the heat sensor.

Turns off after a few minutes

sounds like your motor is overheating or going bad. sometimes lint built up around the motor can cause it to overheat. or the motor is dying.

Kenmore Gas Dryer Gets Hot, Shuts Off Early in Cycle

Sounds like a faulty high limit or cycling thermostat. The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a certain temp. It should be mounted on the exhause duct inside the back of the dryer. It should look something like the one in the picture:

Hope this helped and best wishes.
