Hi, I am having S2 IS camera.... Haven't used it for the past 6 months....now facing one problem. I brought new rechargable batteries, charged them properly for about 9 hours and then tried to turn the camera on. Although the Camera turned on, only a blank screen came and nothing was visible. First, are the batteries inserted correctly? Try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Did the batteries come pre-charged? Most rechargeable batteries do not come charged. If they are not rechargeable batteries could they be shelf-dead? Do other batteries work in the camera?

Rechargeable batteries don't last forever and if yours are the originals then they're long overdue for replacement.

Fit new rechargeables, and always recharge the battery before storing the camera.

Hi there please reset the camera 1st . THen pair your battery with your camera. Go in menu then battery type option. Select the type of a battery. After that save the setting. Now try . If you face the same problem then the camera internal power transformer are damaged or week. So you need to replace that transformer after that it will start work properly. You use that camera so long, that's why there is a chance of that damaged. Thanks if its helpful then rating me.

I wonder how good your rechargeable batteries are-even these lose their ability to recharge fully after a while. Try some non rechargeable good quality batteries in it and see if it then works properly.

What does change the batteries message indicate when new batteries are installed? Canon S2 IS will not turn on in camera mode but reads "change the batteries" even with new batteries.

Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in a digital camera. Some may also have reached their shelf life at the store, and though right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you may see the same recommendation.

Keep in mind rechargeable NiMH batteries will save you money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Fuji f-401 not recharging.

There is only two possibility why the battery didn't charge.
1) cradle ( socket at camera side ) faulty.
2) the power adaptor faulty ( no dc voltage, can use volt meter to confirm ).

it worth repairing .Thks

S2 suddenly draining batteries rapidly

I have the same exact problem. I just now read a possible solution: try opening the battery compartment door and then closing it again to "trick" the camera into thinking it just got new batteries. There is definitely something wrong with the way the camera senses dead batteries.
