Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I've had two iP4200 printers. Both developed same leakage problem - a black line prints on the back of every document, sometimes light, sometimes heavy. Both printers were not that old or heavily used. This is a pattern sugggesting a design flaw or inherent weakness of a part. Is there a fix for this?
There is a fix, design flaw as you say. You need a new ink absorber kit which includes a mylar strip so it won't happen again. What's happening is the waste ink from the purge assembly is pumped over to the center of the absorber pads and when it dries it stops the flow and it backs up thru the exit rollers.

Tips for a great answer:
Confirm there is no orange tape across the top of the ink tank
If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (A), it is properly removed.
If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (B), remove the remaining tape to the level shown in Figure (A).
Make sure each ink tank is snapped into the printer.
