Need to free up space on d drive

Dear Duchessjone, (if you are dutch i can also awnser you in Dutch ;) )

You can clean up your drives by first deleting/uninstalling all the programs that your wont use. (NEVER go randomly delete mode, just because of disk space. This might comprimise the drive)
Especially programms like computergames tend to ask a lot of your harddrive memory.

You can go to your D Drive by right clicking on the menu and then click explore. There click 'computer' and select your D Drive.

After unstalling/deleting files. Right click on the drive. Then click on properties. Select the tab Extra, from the properties menu. There you can defragmentate your drive.
This will fill up all the gaps created by the drive or created by deleting programms ( which we just did)
Filling up these gaps, will make the drive faster and gives more drive space!

I hope this information was all helpful to you.

With kind regards,

MisterN

My 5633 acer keeps coming up low disk space on c how can I solve this

uninstall & delete any unused programs. Empty the recycle bin,run disk clean-up from system tools. Defragment the drive. If that doesn't help,I'd start looking into a new hard drive.

I repeatedly get Program not responding messages

Not much to go on here. Are you asking for condolences, or what to do about it? This message is caused generally by your machine having run out of resources. That could be swap file space, due to having run out of room on your hard drive, or swap file size set too small. Graphics card insufficient for what you are trying to do, especially if it is an on-board graphics card. Mostly due to not enough RAM installed. RAM chips are cheaper than they have ever been. See how much is in your machine, and then max it out by adding RAM up to the capacity of your motherboard. Temporary fix is try running less applications at one time, defrag your hard drive, add a program such as Advanced Windows Care (FREE on the net) and use it to maintain your registry, I would go for the RAM upgrade.

My D: drive is 99% full how do I free up disk space ?

Music, video and pictures use the most hard drive space. Store them on a disc or on line storage site. After the delete or removing as advised, defrag you hard drive. This should free up space. Get rid of any programs you don't use. As long as you don't delete hidden files you should be fine. Hope this helps. If you are using windows XP go to start, control panel add and remove programs and delete only the programs that you installed and remove only them.

Hard drive space needed

Simply buying the external hard drive is one thing. Did you simply plug it in, copy stuff over, or _move_ stuff over? You have to move stuff over in one spot to make room elsewhere. Cut-and-paste is your friend. Do not move programs this way -- just data, like videos, music, photos and word processing documents.

There's a wonderful program called ATF-Cleaner from http://www.atribune.org that can also search your computer for unused files. (Windows has a built-in program, too: click Start: Accessories: System Tools: Disk Cleanup). But the ATF-Cleaner is a bit more thorough, does more stuff. You may be simply wasting a surprising amount of hard drive space on stuff like temporary files that became pretty much permanent. You can also free up some space by deleting old System Restore files and the clike -- look through Disk Cleanup.

I don't know if you manually erase those drivers, but I recommend you reinstall the drivers with the setup option, then uninstall them, again reinstall them ans see if work, or depending the OS if is Xp or Vista, ?
