Question about ViewSonic VA712B 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

Viewsonic VA712b issuses

The problem is that when I turn my computer on the moniter will start up, but it has pixelated blocks over the screen in a grid pattern. If it makes it to show my desktop the screen will flash from black to desktop a few times before going blank with the message:

"No Signal Analog"

Then sometimes it will flash back to the desktop after showing that message then back to a blank screen with "No Signal Analog" a couple of times before going blank again.

However, when the computer showed some messages about how it may have been turned off wrong or was shut down to protect my files there were no pixelated blocks over the entire screen. Not until I selected to start windows normally did they reappear.

I've tried using a DVI cable, the same thing happens but it will say "No Signal Digital" and I've tried it on my brother's hand-me-down computer where it works just fine.

In all cases, expect trying it on the other computer, the light on the moniter turned orange.

    Update.

Ok, i left the monitor on since i had last messed with it to type out the problem above. Here i am sitting in front of the monitor like 2 or so hours later and it comes back from a blank screen. It has pixelated bars going horizontally across the screen.

You most likely have a capacitor that has changed value. When a capacitor goes bad it will work after it heats up. Sometimes a bad cap will have a bulging top or show signs of leakage. Sometimes can only be checked with a meter.

Problm with viewsonic va712b

sounds like the operating mode is at a frequency or refresh rate that is outside the viewsonic operating specifications when in normal mode. possible solution: in safe mode access control panel, system, devices (hardware) and look for display. do a right click and uninstall. repeat right click and "scan for hardware changes". That might reset the monitor operating modes but it also gives you a chance to reinstall drivers. If this does not work, try other monitor crt/lcd to see what happens.

Viewsonic VA712b lost Power Supply need voltage & current

davsmith00, Did you look on rear of VA712B where the power plug enters the power JACK connector? Maybe it will only tell you who is positive and who is negative (gnd) some monitors state what is the required V & I for them on the rear labels somewhere. This will teach you not to lose your supply. Did the dog hide it under the bed? Good luck finding a replacement. There are sources on web that specialize in drop-in replacement IN-LINE switch-mode-power-supply Bricks. You can also try newark.com and mouser.com and digikey.com to see if they have something. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aim.com Bye for now.
