You may have more of a chance of repairing the preamp than replacing it. If the components are exposed, repair should be easy.

Preamp tubes for XXX amp. How do I choose, and can I replace myself?

Replace with like part numbers... 12AX7's and 12AT7's are common numbers. Unless the tubes have failed heaters, do NOT expect much if any improvement. If the tubes are microphonic and lightly tapping on them produces major noise that would be a reason to replace. Try to avoid getting skin oils on the glass of tubes when replacing.

I have the Peavey Millenium BXP 5 string bass and apparently, at my last gig, I must have plugged into the wrong cord because after that I could not get the bass volume to work. I'm not sure if I blew out...

Here is the contact info you need:http://www.peavey.com/support/contactinfo/ Tell them the problem and they will advise you as to whether or not you will be able to repair it yourself. Without troubleshooting it myself I would guess that there is a part blown in the preamp circuit. I don't know for sure but if it involves a surface mount component the circuit board may have to be replaced if there is one.

Peavey 115 Low hum Low volume from input

The preamp section has a problem. It could be anything in the preamp but is OFTEN the input jack itself. They take a lot of abuse.

Also the insert jack contacts that forward the preamp to the power amp if no external FX are used can go bad.

Additional things are circuit board cracks caused by rough handling and also controls that have had the knobs mashed in which can destroy the potentiometers they are connected to.
