Why can I hardly pull my clutch lever in on my 2008-Victory 8-Ball motorcycle

It sounds to me like the inside of the clutch cable itself has broken strands that is making in bind up. Disconnect the cable at the motor (transmission) now see how difficult it is to squeeze the clutch lever on the handle bar. If it is easy to pull back and forth than the clutch cable needs replacing.

Clutch adjustment # 1 to 4 what does it do

The 1 to 4 adjustment only changes how close the lever is to the bar. It will not change the "friction point" of the clutch.
If your bike has a cable operated clutch you can adjust the cable to change this. If it is a hydraulic clutch then bleed the system. I think though it is a sign of clutch wear.
There is a little screw on the inside of the clutch lever in between the 1 to 4 dial and the bar grip. You can try to adjust that carefully. It may be difficult at first as BMW loctites the screw.

My clutch wont engage.

you need to take the clutch cover off and inside you will find a small shaft going up to your clutch lever. If that lever is broken you will have to replace that shaft. If the clutch shaft checks out check your cable that could be broken. If it is then replace and adjust and you are good to go. Good luck on the bike

Tranny clunks when put in gear on my 1998 sporster 1200

Getting this, to not be so jerky, may be as easy as adjusting the clutch. open up the derby cover and ..

1)Collapse the adjuster on the cable sleeve all the way.

2)Pull the lever against the bar and hold it there with slight force.

3)Turn the pushrod adjuster bolt in while holding the lever against the bar lightly until it starts to force the lever away for some distance. (Do this more than once to get the feel). While keeping light pressure on the lever back the adjuster bolt out just until the lever touches the bar again and then another little bit, about 1/2 turn , then lock it.

4)Adjust the cable freeplay at the lever for 1/16" free play.

You should be good to go .

Always adjust the clutch on a cold bike for best results.

**It's better to adjust the clutch so that it starts to grab at least an inch or more from the bar for complete disc separation, which translates into better/quieter shifting.Using this method, you can "feel" where the lever is going to grab with a little practice.

Buy yourself a cheap 11/16 deep well socket and weld a nut on top of it. This makes the perfect tool for the adjuster lock nut. You can then use an Allen wrench inside the socket and a wrench on the nut you have just welded on. Makes it a lot simpler.

You can also see "clutch adjustment by the book" in this same forum found-- HERE.. Hope this helps Fix Ya up..

When i pull clutch lever in the starter engages even if the on off switch is off

You have the clutch protection overide switch, on the clutch lever, wired up to the start button.
Check your wiring.

Key broke off in gas tank lid

You need a little hook from a lock smith. They have a special hook on a small bar that slips under or beside the key and will pull it out slick as snot! Catch em on the road and give em $20.00

I have a cr250 evo,19898 is the year.i had a seriouse crash on my bike which broke clutch lever so bought new on.after putting it on,the clutch ius working on lever and inside engine casing but does not...

I think there must be a difference on the shape between the new and old clutch lever, try to adjust the clutch cable adjuster, the adjustment must be a little tighter you grip the lever, try to adjust at your freference

Can't shift into gear

If the clutch lever is very easy to pull back (no tension) your cable is broke, if not you need to adjust the clutch. You might want to check at your local library to find a repair manual for your bike. It will show you what you need to know, replacing cable or adjusting clutch.
