Cant change channels or input using front panel/no remote
I bought an out of box display tv from Walmart and cant change any of the channels or input using buttons on the front panel. Its an Emerson 20in tv model # CR202EM9.Walmart refuses to give me the code used to lock the front panels of their displays and even if they gave it to me, I can not figure out how to enter any numbers!

Did the TV's source get changed? If you use the Television remote and find the source or input button which switches between the video sources for your TV such as HDMI, A/V, Television Tuner,, VGA connector or Component video. If your using a cable box that remote only controls the cable box and possibly the TV power and volume but the cable box remote does not change the source input of the TV. Most Cable boxes rebroadcast their video on a specific TV channel and your TV must be set to that channel to receive the signal from the cable box. Let me know if this helps you out.
If you have a cable box and you are using your tv remote, then you cannot get the channels. If you do have a cable box, then you need to use your cable box remote. If you do not see anything on the tv still, use the tv remote and look for input or source on the remote. Select it and scroll down and select each input until you see cable tv. (Now when I mean cable box, it could also be satellite). I hope this helps, good luck.
That isn't how resolution works. The resolution is changed in the cable box or satellite tv receiver. The television automatically displays the resolution once it has been changed on the cable box or satellite tv receiver. If you are on input tv on the Sharp television then it will not display any other resolution besides 480i if you have a cable box or satellite tv receiver. If you are not connected to a cable box or satellite tv receiver and you are on input tv then the resolution will differ from channel to channel.
You may be able to channel down on the tv from channel 3 to get to inputs. If not and there is no input button on your tv you will have to get a modulator from walmart or order a new remote for the tv. Do not get a universal remote.
I just bought the same TV second-hand and had the same problem.
Solution: Use remote to change channel to 00. You can't display
channel 00 using front panel - a remote is required. I have a very
basic RCA universal remote, & it does the trick.
Set up your infrared blasters connected from your IR port on the Tivo and by placing the two lead lights in front of your cable box so it (the cable box) can read the signal. Then go to Channel settings accessed through Tivo Central and follow the questions. It will ask you to change channels until the remote is working correctly. This all worked on a different "input" on my Mitsubishi TV (it has multiple inputs. I have the cable input on a different "input" to make it work.
Hope this helps. Call TIVO tech assistance because they are the ones who talked me through this.
I had this problem with my TV/VCR combo unit (Samsung CXC1972) after losing the remote while in the dorms. I tried a few different universal remotes and dozens of codes before I tried the Philips 3 device universal remote as pictured below with code 037 programmed into the VCR/DVD button. I can't change the volume with this code but the input key switches between line in and tv. You can also change the channel, access the menu and operate the VCR functions with the code. I bought the remote for less than $10 at Walmart so it might be worth a try, and if it doesn't work you can always bring it back. Hope this helps.
