Hi,

There can be many reasons why your dryer will not start or turn...

The most common causes are the belt breaking or jumping off, or the motor goingbad...

Dryer making squeaking noise, what causes this?

The squeaking could be coming from the idler pulley on the motor, the drum rollers or a worn drum seal. It is not a good idea to spray the rollers with WD-40. The WD-40 will attract lint that will build up and could catch on fire inside the dryer cabinet. A bad drum support roller or any other squeaking component inside a dryer cabinet will normally need to be replaced.

My front load dryer will not start. We just changed the fuse and it was squeaking. Now it won't start. The belt is not popped we checked. it just hums and it doesn't turn

hums and doesnt turn would be along the lines of bad motor try using your hand on the inside of the drum to push the drum around if it is hard to push you will most likely be looking at having to replace the motor if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future Thanks Rick

When we turn on our Whirlpool Supreme electric dryer, it heats up and dries clothes, but it is making a loud squeaking noise throughout the cycle...sometimes louder than others.

The squeaking noise can be caused by any of the following.

Location High:

Belt slipping on the dryer drum

Worn Drum seals but would sound more like a dragging noise

Location Low:

Belt tensioner pulley bearing frozen and the idler pulley shaft is spinning inside the belt tensioner assy.

Belt slipping on the motor bearing

Motor bearing is dry

Dryer will not work1

Squeaking noise often indicates problem with drive belt. If belt broke, drum will no longer rotate. Belt is similar to fan belts used in autos. Ck Sear's website for parts diagram of yr dryer. If it shows a drive belt, I would start there.
