Make sure that ther USB cable is plugged inand not damaed. If that is OK then you need to install all the up to date drivers for your laptptop from Toshiba Support at the following link

I keep getting a message saying that there is no comunication with the printer. it used to work on this lap top and continues to work when pluged into my pc

Sounds like a driver/cable issue.
Uninstall all drivers/software for this device (be sure to unplug the printer first)
Download the latest drivers/software from the Dell Website
Attach the printer to a different USB port than the one you had previously
Re-install the drivers/software

If this fails - Check your USB cable. 90% of the time it's a faulty cable or USB port.

Some printers also have a "resume" or "connect" button on them, if this is the case, it may be as simple as pushing that button.

Printer not connected to hp laptop

If this laptop and printer combination worked before, try a new cable. They often fail inside without any notable outer damage.

I have a x5495 printer and after installing software and I try to print, I get message that no communication between printer and computer. I have checked all of the recommendations and still can get to...

The message "no communication between printer and computer". some times indicates that the cable you're using is faulty or the port selected is not the printer port you've connected your printer to.cheers.

Dell A920 Inkjet Printer is not communicating with an HP Pavillion dv6700 laptop with Vista Operating System

It could be related to Vista. Check Dells website to see if they have a Vista driver for it.

If you have another USB Cable you can try swapping it.

If you have a spare USB Port, you can try swapping that as well.

Flashing Green Light/ Computer can't communicate with printer......

Hi. The flashing code signifies that there is a fault with the connection between the ink cartridge and the printer - usually because either the tape is still on the cartridge or maybe some glue from the tape still on the contacts. In my case, I think the cartridge was simply knackered, so I threw it away and opened yet another ink cartridge. It now works fine.

If you want to test yours, simply take out both ink cartridges, and re-insert them one at a time. If you've put a working cartridge in the flashing will stop; if you've put the dodgy one in it'll still flash. Just replace the dodgy one.

Hope this helps.
