Question about GE JBP24 QuickClean Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

I have a GE jbp24 free standing electric stove. I have a couple of problems. 1) while using the oven the top burner is also hot -- is this normal. there is also a strange odor like something burning. 2) Last night I used the range (still has srange odor). This morning I noticed that the clock was off. Tested the range (stovetop) and nothing worked. Check the circuit breaker. It was still on. Flip the circuit breaker off then on. Heard a someting pop. Must have tripped the outlet. (Did not trip the circuit breaker). Is something overheating that will caused the outlet to trip.

Hot steam is blowing out of the vent below control knobs. None of the surface burners are on, but the oven is.

This is normal. There is an oven vent along the bottom of the operator console on most free standing ranges. It should mention this in your owner's manual. Its also a good idea not to store items on top of the stove when you are using the oven, because of the heat escaping the oven vent.

How do you light the pilot on a GE stove The top of the stove works

Hi, If this model has a standing pilot, use a lighter and put the flame to the back center next to the burner assembly. Most newer models have electric ignitors now. It is fastened to the burner assmbly on the laft side.
If this an electric ignitor, turn the oven on and see if the ignitor glows. These ignitors are a very common problem and will probavly need replaced.
Please let me know if I can assist youu further.

Stove top hot when oven on

There is a vent tube that generally goes up to a back burner where you can use it for keeping something warm. There may be a problem with that tube falling out??? and all the heat is venting to under the stove top. Look fer it

Burners won't heat up

Hi, Did you check the receptical on the wall to see if it is any good? Do you have 240V to the oven? If there is voltage, Unplug the oven and remove the rear panel to see if a wire has burned of of one of the switches. It would be either the red or black (L1-L2). I hope this helps
Please let me know
Thanks

GE gas stove the burners on top work, the oven won't get hot

The most common reason a gas oven won't heat is a bad igniter. It is located near the valve and burner under the oven bottom. You can usually see it glow orange just before the fire lights. Most GE ranges take a cylindrical igniter part #WB2X9154 or #WB13K21 rectangular igniter.

Electric range burners and oven element just stopped working. Burner indicator light came on and oven temp setting displays correctly. Clock went into set mode automatically, though. Burner came back on...

check the power behind the stove, the outlet for 220 volts, i just fix one with the same problem, it was getting 110 volts but not the 220 volts. so there was nothing wrong with the stove but with the power source.when the stove indicator lights work and the clock, it means that only 110 volts are coming to the stove.
