Will not cme on

Hi
Firstly - Is the cabling, mains and data cable, securely attached at both ends and the power turned on at the mains?
Secondly - If so when you press the monitor power button, does a light come on? (often orange coloured) If yes does this change colour when the computer starts its boot sequence? (often to green or blue)?
If no light can be obtained it is likely that the monitor is faulty.
If a light comes up on power up, but doesn't change colour during the computer boot sequence then it is more likely to be the graphics card that is faulty, or sometimes the computer PSU.
The easiest way to find out whether the computer or monitor is at fault is to replace the existing monitor with a monitor that is known to be in full working order, for example from another computer. (Or connecting your monitor to a computer that is known to be working)
Having isolated the faulty component it can be replaced and you should be up and running again.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

When i turn it on it only appears only a second , my monitor turn black

Hello Chelleydiao, hi, its either you have a CPU problem or the monitor itself. Check or use another monitor to see if the problem is fix. you see an blank monitor can also be caused by the CPU if it fails to boot. the aid the checking, do you see any orange light on the monitor? or any indication.... the led light on the screen in summary: green or blue means there is power and the CPU boots up. if orange the CPU fails to boot, if there are no lights on the Monitor panels, there are problems on the monitor. check these first....I need a much detail description.

W Thought it was the computer - so I chont power on. Would, for a while come up with no signal message, but now blue light barely flickers. Thought it was the computer so I changed computers, worked for...

A good rule of thumb to follow is: if the power button turns orange/red when it goes out, it's usually a problem with the monitor. If it stays blue or goes off, it's a problem with a driver or cable connection. Good luck!

Dell Inspiron 530 boots then the screens turn off to orange light

Is the PC actually doing to sleep or is the display just amber with the fan and power light on the PC still running?

Do you have multiple video cards or multiple ports?
You may have the monitor plugged into the non-default port on your video card or the wrong card. Try plugging the monitor into another port as the PC should use all outputs when booting but then define a default display once the driver is loaded. Also take a look at the default video display in your BIOS settings. Depending on what your setup is you should be able to choose between (onboard, PCI, AGP)

Can't get Picture on Monitor, replaced video card

Boot up into the setup, usually F2- in the video section look to be able to make a change from Onboard to PCI ...apply-save change and exit ...also make sure you have connected the monitor to the correct area...I , like a big dummy, have often just hooked it up to the first blue socket i saw and of course...not much happens.
I hope this helps you Fred, (if it came with drivers install them)
please leave rating, thank you kindly

No display

you need to boot to safemode and reset your resolution it sounds like someone has set the resolution higher than the monitor can support, just press F8 right after the post screen goes away when you turn it on, then select safe mode, once in safe mode go to your display settings and set the res and color depth to a low settings ie. 800x600 or 1024x768 then reboot and it should work

Monitor problems

ok ,you may have two monitor drivers installed, or if it is wireless the driver may be faulty etc... a problem like this occur when you have two places on a monitor can be attached to your motherboard, direct or PCI, hat means look at the back of your comp. if there is a similar port that the one your using then when the monitor goes blank and just sits their, switch it over, and you should get an image. if its a driver problem, then safe mode will only work, and reinstall your PCI TO PCI or: your PCI BRIDGE drivers in the computer managment console. good luck. if all fails try using an older monitor or just a spare. cheers.
