The top oven has died although the bottom one is fine- are there internal fuses which can be replaced or is an element that has blown?

top oven is not heating past 295; lower oven works fine

The electric tripped, I reset the trip switch and when using the fan oven it does not heat. I presume it is the ring element has blown, reading your helpful comments?

I have the same problem. I was cooking using both ovens of the double oven at the same time and the lower one just popped.
It tripped the switch, so switched it back on and now the top one works but with the lower one only the fan and light comes on with now heat. Does that mean the element has blow, or is it a matter of changing a fuse which a bloody engineer will charge me a £100 for?
    Cheers Dave.

top oven is working okay but the bottom one is not giving out any heat and the fan does not turn

  • Davis2 Feb 17, 2009

Top convection oven reads FF. Won't get hot and the fan sounds like it can't decide if it should come on or go off.
Bottom conventional oven working fine, I believe.
What do I do? I just spent $300 last year to replace the display...

My ge jtp56woa1ww double electric oven will not bake in the top oven. broiler in the top oven seam fine. Lower oven functions great in both features. What to do?

Sounds like the bottom element, or element wire in the top oven is burned out, Check to see if the element is broken, or swollen. Two signs of a burned element.

RBD305PDS14 The top oven of this double oven is not baking or broiling. I replaced the baking element and still no go. Bottom oven is fine. Any suggestions?

Perhaps item number 37 has opened (died) killing the circuit to the elements from L-2. Looks like it $35 bucks.
Better verify it is bad before ordering. Now I know the following video ain't a bult in oven but I want you to see how important it is to turn off power to this oven before attempting repairs:

there is a safety stat/fuse on top of the oven exterior i think you will find that it also has blown. Make sure you have isolated the appliance at the fuse board first though, Good Luck

Heating element

the chances are the top oven thermostat has gone and may need replacing. also check on any selector switches relating to the top oven unit they can burn out on the contacts. there is no seperate fuse.
