A slot screwdriver may be used for screws with a recessed single groove that stretches across the head of a screw. A square ended screwdriver was invented in Canada by a man named Robertson. These types of screwdrivers are named after him and come in different sizes from 0, 1, 2, 3 and have different coloured handles, yellow, green, red and black to mark the sizes. Number 2 (red) is the most common for wood screws. Square drivers make better contact then slotted ones and don't strip the head as quickly.
