If it fills with water and starts the cycle and the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is sticking. It needs replacing.

SOURCE: my washing machine water overflows tub it wont

Sounds like a sticking water level switch.
Locate thin plastic or rubber hose going from the bottom of the washer to the water leel switch at the top, remove and clean hose and the chamber at the bottom where the hose fits.

After my toilet fill valve shuts off, water continues sipping into tank slowly. This causes water continuously overflow through overflow tube.

check that the fill valve was installed correctly
adjust the float level so that when full the cistern water level is around 1/2" below the over flow pipe end
what you have now is that the inlet water is not being shut off correctly and the water is still coming in and flowing out of the overflow

How to fix amana w10240534c washer wont fill?

check your water inlet valve. Check it for continuity with a multi meter it should show Ohms or a closed circuit. To test it when water is overflowing unplug the unit and see if it still overflows or continues to fill. no fill If it stops when unplugged. Then it is not a water inlet problem but an electrical signal problem going to ur water inlet valve. Possibly from the panel or board.

Whirlpool LSR8433KQ keeps filling with water and overflows. What can I do?

Pressure switch W10339229 or inlet valve may be stuck. If the water shuts off when you push in the timer knob to stop the machine, then water valve is ok. Try a different water level setting.

Water will not stop when I shut the washer off.

Possible that the inlet valve has failed and so does not cut off even after the power to the unit or the control unit has been disconnected.

Washer keeps filling with water never shuts off overflows

Hello,

Their are 2 possibilites causing it to overflow

1) the water inlet valve that the hoses from the house plumbing attach to is sticking open, when it sticks it will stick open regardless if thier is power to the machine or not,so to determine if that is the problem, start the washer and quickly unplug it,if the water continues to fill, that valve is sticking.

2) the water level switch is defective,do the same as far as starting it,if the fill stops when power disconected it's the water level switch that is in need of replacement.

Good luck, i hope this helps

I have a hotpoint ulitma wt741. my machine seems to overflow the water just filled the drum. i had to turn off the mini blue valve for cold water to stop the water overflowing. how can i fix this ?

To avoid confusion i`ll give you the senerios.Your washing machine was NOT in use and somehow it just fills with water over the day ,slowly filling up and never stops-this is the inlet valve u/s and water seeps, drip drip until the machine leaks-replace valve only answer.Or ,the machine is in use and water doesn`t stop filling up either on wash or rinses-can be valve not shutting off because valve is faulty, similar to above, this is rare but not unknown,or much more likely the air trap/filter is blocked up which is not telling the pressure switch to cut the power to the valve with the correct amount of water.IF the filter/air trap-a rubber hose with a large hose clip and a white looking chamber sprouting from the hoses r/h/side- is at the rear of the machine(to the right of the motor looking from the rear of the machine) this is where you should look first ,if your filter is at the front (r/h/s) i don`t know the answer to this part of the question.

Wont stop filling up. It will overflow with water

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Overfilling in your washer occurs mainly due to two things: water inlet valve going bad and/or the water level switch. If the water inlet valve has gone bad it won’t be able to shut off even when the electricity has been turned off. If the issue is with the water level switch then it won’t tell the water to shut off and the machine will overflow as this switch is to sense the water level in the clothes tub. However, with that being said it seems that you’ll need to replace the water inlet valve. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

My washer fills with water but overflows, the water wont stop at proper level

Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve. Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.
