Retuning Philips DTR 1500 digibox

I have tried to retune my Philips DTR 1500 box using the remote control, using menu/installation/channels/update etc, but still cannot receive channel 5 - I get the notice telling me it has moved. Can you assist please?

Many thanks Dave. I've tried what you suggest, but so far I'm still without C5. I'll keep trying though, in case I'm doing something wrong. Another problem is that in trying everything I could think of I disabled C5 from the list under Installation/programs, with the intention of then reenabling it, hoping tht this might somehow help, but now can't enable it again, as the cursor won't stay on it, and jumps from 4 to 6!

Success! it worked this time - probably because I waited for my wife to come home, when I found it easier with her reading out your instructions while I pressed the buttons etc. Thanks a lot for your help Dave - it's much appreciated.

Had same problem. Remedy is to put digibox back to factory reset. Dis-connect from mains. Keep pressing + button on front panel as you re-connect to mains. Red LED will be on, when orange LED blinks release + button. briefly press + button. You have solid red LED and blinking red LED. Enter code 9 9 0 0, by remote blinking LED will show green. Wait a few minutes and the instalation page will appear on screen. Go to update and start as you did before and C5 should be installed. Hope that helps.

2 Retune How to retune. Retuning your TV is a very quick and simple process. We recommend that you retune every few months to ensure you are receiving the very latest TV and radio channels that are broadcast. 1) On the remote control press [MENU] followed by 8 - 8 - 8 - 8 (so the number 8 button four times) 2) The First Time Installation menu will appear. Press [OK] and tuning will take place. How do you tune TV

A full retune should only takes a few minutes and can be done with your remote control. Here are some guidelines for how to do it, but bear in mind every model of digital TV or box will be a little bit different.
  • Make sure your Freeview TV or box is on and in digital mode, usually by pressing the DTV or digital button on your remote. Then press 'menu'.
  • Select the 'set up' or 'installation' option. If you see picture icons, select the tool box, satellite dish or spanner. If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
  • Select the full retune option. This is sometimes called 'first time installation', 'factory reset', 'default settings' or 'shipping conditions'. Do not select 'channel update' or 'add channels'.
  • Press 'OK' if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry this is normal
  • Channels will automatically be installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart
  • In some cases, where transmitter signals overlap, it may be necessary to carry out a manual retune.
Note: Depending on your TV equipment, you may need to update your favourites list following a retune. Some digital recorders may require scheduled recordings to be reset.

On my sharp tu tv322h my epg is blank ive tried retuning but its still blank can you help?

This worked for me.....(from the Top Up TV website)
Purge VOD.
Press the menu button
Scroll down to Option 4 and press OK
Scroll down to Option 6 and press OK
In the help menu press 1397 on the remote control quickly and in sequence
Scroll down to the 'Purge VOD Schedule' option (next page) and press OK
Remember the DTR must be either on or left in standby at all times to receive the EPG and programme downloads. • The guide will update at the next scheduled slot (between 11am and 12pm daily).

Updates are also quicker if you change from 14 day EPG to the 8 day version...
Guide > Set-Up (4) > Change box settings (2) > TV guide type (9) > back arrow > Continue (green button)

How to retrieve lost channels on digital tv

To restore missing channels, you need to retune your digital receiver (box or TV).

The retuning process runs a scan and finds all the available channels. Your box may have an Add New Channels option that you can use, but this may not pick up other changes such as channels being moved to a different multiplex or removed altogether.
How to retune
  1. Switch on your digital box and/or TV.
  2. Press Menu on the remote control.
  3. Select the Setup or Installation option.
  4. Select the 'First time installation' option (sometimes called 'Factory reset', 'Full retune' or 'Default settings').
  5. Press OK if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry, this is normal.
  6. If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
  7. Channels will be automatically installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart.
  8. After retuning, you will have to redo your Favourites list and other settings. If you retune a digital TV recorder, you also should reset future recordings.

Panasonic digibox tu-ct20 has all stations mixed up since the retune . worked perfectly well untill then.even tried the shipping reset .no luck.

Just had the same problem with a Panasonic digibox whilst trying to fix a customers tv. The only way I can see to unmix them is to use Profile menu to create a new Profile and manually add the channels one-by-one to the new profile, or replace the digibox. I suggested to the customer best solution - replace digibox as they are cheap enough now.
