Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Microwave has a short if you tap it then it comes on for a sec then lights go out again. We opened it up but can not see any loose connections. It did however come on and stay on when last screw was taken out but as soon as husband moved it of course it went off.

Have you had the cabinet apart for another problem before this one? If so it could be that all the screws weren't the same length and it's in the wrong spot.

Microwave us unresponsive, no display & no light. At one point when I opened the door it came back to life but died again shortly after

This means that more than likely something is loose or the capacitor on the power supply has failed. You will have to take it down and take it apart. I don't ever recommend that because technically you must check it for microwave leakage if you take it apart. Most people don't have that equipment.

Troubleshooting your Panasonic microwave oven requires removal of the cover. There may be a loose or broken connection inside. Be sure to read and heed the dangerous voltage warning. As for the repair or replace issue, that depends on age (in appliance years) and whether parts cost and labor are reasonable.

Microwave power turns off after a few sec running incl oven power

I would suggest having whoever installed the new appliances come back and check out his work. There might be a poorly made electrical connection somewhere, and you might have a potential fire hazard.

You might also have gotten a lemon microwave oven. This happens sometimes. (Usually when I buy something.) Contact the store where you purchased it and ask if they have a service person who can check it, or just tell them what's happening and you want a replacement. They'll just return yours to the manufacturer.

In any case, have this checked out to be sure your wiring isn't at fault.

I have a Magic Chef over-the-range microwave (MCO160UB), and recently the turntable and internal light stopped working while it runs. Light and fan underneath both work, and the internal light works when...

well an educated guess would be a short or loose connection in a common thats shared between the two that could rattle loose when it so chooses.. without a wiring diagram it would be hard to guess more specifically where without laying hands upon it.. and for that you'd have to lower it to the countertop level and dismantle to test.. it could always turn out to be a bad board also, but thats usually a done deal and doesn't repair itself then break again..
best of luck,

Need assistance with a ge profile repair microwave not working- newer appliance

Is it still under warranty? If so, take advantage of it. If you are on your own, does it have power (light comes ON when door opened)? Open the case, (power plug out) and look for a blown fuse. The fuse will pop when there is trouble in the HV system for the magnetron--usually a shorted HV diode or shorted stirrer fan bearing which is located within the waveguide that is located just over the cooking cavity. If the fuse is good, check the door interlock switch near the door latch mechanism. It may be a faulty micro-switch, loose switch, or damaged actuator.

Loose connectors can cause charring, and eventually open up the connection.

It would help to have your full model number and FCC ID number, and a clear photo or two of the trouble area so I can guide you.

Disply goes blank

The problem is most likely a burnt, loose, or cold solder connection on the control board. Most likely at the low-voltage transformer that supplies power the board itself. Carefully resoldering any suspect connections in this area should solve the problem. Be careful not to get too much solder on the connections that could short one to another.
