Is this button on the dvd player? Where should I look for it?

  • annnicolosi Sep 30, 2009

sorry, not sure how this works since I am new to this site, how quickly can I expect to hear back from you? I do not see any button on the dvd player that would adjust the screen scrolling. Please advise

I did look up the manual on line and did not see anything referring to a tracking button.  Please let me know if you find differently.
    Thanks

Chances are its not your DVD player as its a digal image and rolling is very uncommon. Try using the tv without the DVD player (maybe a VCR or cable) and see what it does as it probably still rolls. If its an older set it will have a V hold or Vert hold knob. You can turn this to stablilze the photo..

Hi,
This is not the heads or cleaning issues on your player you have a round button that looks as disk and it move very slow from tight to left or left to right. They are used for adjusting the scrolling. They could be in front or side…just take your time looking for it…when you find it be very carful when adjusting as it move fast and you need only a very small adjustment. Let me know if that work for you or you need more help with it. Please see that you rate my service to be able to continue the service for others…God bless

Does not play any disc

Thats bad..Did you try another disc? If this happens even with a different disc. You will need to get a lens cleaner(costs about 5$) and try cleaning the lens. If it still doesn't work then you will have to replace the lens. The reason why it died suddenly is probably because the lens circuitry somehow got shorted. Try cleaning and if not.. replace.

LOCK displayed on the dvd player

Though it may be different for different models, the JVC XV-N40 DVD Player LOCK can be disengaged (and engaged) by pressing the [EJECT] button while holding-down the [STOP] button. Yes, it's that simple but I had to search online to find it too. The XV-N212 did not appear on JVC's website when I looked for it there.

Here's a link to the material that coves with the player in the box:

XV-N40BK/XV-N44SL (NO DISK INSERTED)

Hey WeiesBlitz,

There may be a number of reasons why you may be encountering this problem, but there are a couple of quick solutions that may always try before seeking repairs on the player.

First, I would suggest making sure that the DVD's being used have been cleaned and are dust-free. Imperfections or impurities of any kind on the surface of a CD or DVD may prevent the laser in your player from being able to read, or even recognize the media inserted. You should be able to clean the DVD by using a soft and dry, lint-free (typically microfiber) cloth. Remember to try using gentle, outward strokes that run from the inner ring of the disc directly to the outer edge.

Second, you can always try cleaning the lens of the player itself using a commercial cleaning kit. Many retailers (including your local Best Buy™ store) may sell kits that clean lenses when inserted into your player like a normal DVD. Please keep in mind that not all DVD players are designed to function with these cleaning kits, and that you should always refer to your owner's manual for any possible warnings against the use of such products.

Should these suggestions fail resolve the problem, you may wish to try using other DVD's from your film library in the player. If other discs function normally, the non-functioning disc may be damaged. If using other discs results in the same error message, the player may be in need of physical repairs.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
