SOURCE: monitor goes black 1 second after coming to full screen

I have 2 systems with the FPD1500 monitor. They worked fine until I applied

SP2. After SP2, they will not start. They come on OK, display the Windows

XP splash screen and then go into sleep mode when the system starts the

proper display mode before the Windows XP login screen is displayed. If I go

into safe mode and uninstall the video adaptor and restart the system, it

will start properly. After it comes up, it finds the video adaptor and

installs it and the session proceeds OK. I can reset the resolution and

number of colors to 1024x768 and Highest (32 colors) and things look fine.

However, when I restart the system, it hangs up after the Windows splash

screen and the monitor goes to sleep.

If I put it into VGA mode, it will come up OK. But once I change any

resolution or number of colors, it imediately goes to sleep.

I would appreciate any help you could offer.

SOURCE: monitor goes black after a few seconds

1) It could be your power supply is going bad or not strong enough to keep the monitor on.
2) It could be a memory issue. Video is one of the signs that your ram is bad.
3) It could be a loose connection or the monitor itself.
I would suggest first unplugging all the connections to the monitor and pc then plug in again and restart. If it still turns off try a monitor that you know works. If you still have the problem try changing your memory sticks. It's unusual that it would be a video card/ on board video because it usually either works or it doesn't.

SOURCE: picture comes up on monitor for a few seconds and

rfusco187, I hope you have good warranty?? If not, you will need to do some testing to verify if SMPS is in full or partial shutdown mode. Full= both "black" and "blank"!!! Partial= "black" but can still see ICONS and WIN-desktop if you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen at different angles!!! Then you wil need to decide what you will do. Your options are: Samsung warranty. or possible swap for a refurbished unit from Samsung. (Cash+old unit) only if they have a swapout program!! Trade-in for NEW 2009-2010 model, But the sales guy will take your unit back to the tech in back of store and say "HERE'S ANOTHER ONE YOU CAN TAKE A SHOT AT FIXING-UP" !!! Maybe with a little bit of luck and $6 in parts the tech might have a nice monitor for XMAS. Now, if unit not covered by warranty try a visit to a site run by another fixya guy (buddymc) www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and see if a DIY project will help you decide what to do about your black screen LCD. The reason I make this suggestion is the fact that your monitor WORKS!! Just not long enough!!! You can also visit YOUTUBE for video clips of"LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair" to further your knowledge of the one or two COMMON problems that occur with ALL BRANDS of LCD CCFL backlit displays, LCD TV's included. Well, I wish you luck in getting your problem taken care of. If this was imformative and steers you in the right direction, come back and rate this on fixya. Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

I don't know what OS you have but there is a power management setting you might want to check. Most likely the monitor is set to go quickly into sleep mode at inactivity. Alternately I don't know what monitor you have but it might be a backlight Issue as well

Samsung 216bw does not turn on initially. It starts to, then goes black. If I turn it off and back on several times, it finally stays on.

Hello,

The problem you are having is an indication of a failing power supply. There are parts called capacitors that fail and cause the power supply to not start up correctly. When you keep pressing the start button the voltages coming out of the power supply will finally stabilize and the monitor will display a picture until you turn it off then you have to start all over again. The power board can be easily repaired by replacing the ad capacitors. You can get information about the parts needed here: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=138 The repair will require you doing a little soldering but its very easy.

I hope this helps, if so please please rate our solution.

I have a samsung syncmaster 943NW which goes on for about 5 seconds and then just goes black. When restarting the screen it does the same again, goes on for about 5 seconds and then black. Is there...

I had the same problem with this monitor (Samsung 943nw)
When turned on it would only stay on for less then a full second.
When shining a light on the screen I could see what was on it, so it was just the backlight that was shutting down.

After I turned down the brightness of the monitor, the next time I powered on the screen the backlight stayed lit and it was back to normal.

The monitor startup and few seconds later it turn

You are going to have to open up the monitor, please read below if you are going to DIY.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Samsung T220 Screen Flicker

When the LCD monitor display flickers and or has a black screen then the fault is usually a faulty inverter or the CCFL lamp. When you look at the screen at a sharp angle and you see a dim image then it is a backlight problem and it is caused by a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp.
