Hi,

Go to the dell site and check the support options for your computer. There should be a driver download section, and in there you shoud find the correct network driver. In theory, it's as simple as that to sort integrated component driver issues.

My dell 8600 inspiron will not pick up the internet from my wireless network or connected directly to the cable modem

It can only be 1 of 4 problems then. 1.)Ethernet card is not working. 2.)Drivers need to be updated. 3.)Network settings are not being put in correctly. 4.)Modem is not getting internet.

Solutions:
1.)Buy a new card and see if it works (do not throw away old one b/c if new one does not work either then you can return it)
2.)Go to the website for your modem (usually dell's website keeps all the drivers for standardly used cards) using someone else's computer or internet and update them
3.)Delete all networks in your network panel on computer then try to redo your settings all brand new.
4.)Make sure all lights are lit up on your modem and call your internet carrier.

My network does not work on my Inspiron 1000. How do I turn it on? I have DSL and when I plug in the ethernet cable the light does not turn on on my modem or on the ethernet connection.

Check the device manager in windows and see if there is an exclamation mark on a network adapter. If there is right click it and update driver. If there is no exclamation then you can try to remove and reinstall your network adapter(s). If it seems to be fine in windows its prob not the cause of your problem. Good luck.

Can't connect to internet after reinstalling window-inspiron 8600

Use a computer that is connected to the Internet, then download and copy the drivers on to a CD or USB menory stick and install them on your computer.

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Nic card issues?

Do you have any 2.4MHz cordless phones in the house or is the computer near a microwave? those two items can cause interference. You can go to Dell.com, go to support then download drivers/software, enter in your service tag is best if you know it? find the network card driver and download it. You can find out which NIC card you have by going to my computer, system, then device manager and right click on the NIC, then properties, it will tell you what card you have.

You must install the driver software if it in not listed in --- go to "My computer" >> "Properties" >>"Hardware" >> "Device Manager" >> "Modems"  make sure that modem is visible in the list if so , insure that it is not showing with a red icon... if it is ... then install the driver from the modem driver CD....
