Question about Sanyo Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Sanyo microwave recieving no power.

I have a Sanyo microwave Model No.#EM-S9515W that is about two years old.We use it in our staff lounge at the library. Recieving no power. Not even the clock.I took the cover off and found a connection that is overheating. The covering on the connection to the part I have no name for became discolored and brittle.I cleaned the female connector and the male connector on the part. The microwave is now working. The part remains to get very hot.
Looking at the microwave from the back, the part is located on the right side isolated from any other part. It is a braided wire that leads to the door catch. If it is indeed the part that needs replacing,I need a parts list.

I will give you a web site that will have the information you will need to fix the micro wave it lists the parts and has pictures and locations of the parts. However you must be aware the not putting it back together may cause leakage of microwave energy and could be harmful. You would be better off getting a chat on here to do this job so you have someone guiding you on the procedure. here is the site for you.

I have an old Sanyo Microwave Model EM-FL90N which has worked great, everything works but it seems not to be heating stuff up. The manual is not of much help either. Any suggestions? Help?

You might want to consider replacing the microwave if it is more than 8-10 years old. Sounds like you have a magnatron that is going bad and that is what does the cooking, and to replace it could cost you almost as much as a newer microwave. Hope this helps!

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If it's a bad magnetron and your unit is within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:

Sanyo EM S8597V 34 litre, 1000 Watts microwave

I would think you can get warranty service even without the receipt.

Dealers may insist on that, but manufacturers will usually honor their warranty if you give them a valid serial number, and some may require you to sign an affidavit that you bought it at an appropriate date.

I would contact Sanyo support via here.
