I've tried lighting it and it keeps going out
Its possible you have a bad flame sensor or thermocouple. this is the least costly repair. in fact thermocouple usually can be purchased at local hardware stores and replaced easily. if that doesnt fix it then you have a bad pilot valve and will need to have a certified gas technician fix it for you..
