Question about Proform 530 Treadmill Walking Belt
I attempted to adjust the belt because it was off center by rotating the hex screws at the base on each side. That resulted in a worse problem, now the belt has flipped over half way. How doI fix it?

Under your motor hood you have a drive belt that can also slip. Depending on make you may after loosening the motor bolts and have an adjusting bolts.

SOURCE: belt speed fluctuation
I assuming these hex screws are near the rear of the unit. But they should not affect operation unless really out of whack, but they should be adjusted with the belt moving. Try manually moving the belt first.
If it moves and If it is a newer machine more than likely the motor sensor is telling the control board that the motor is not working and it is shutting down as a safety measure.
If it doesn't move - somethings jammed

Adjust the tension on the right side rear using an allen wrench. Try 1/4 turn clockwise( should tighten). then run tread mill for 30 sec. to see if it centers itself. repeat again if not. if its to tight then turn the left side in a 1/4 turn

Use the allen wrench to loosen side that is touching. 1st locate on the end of the treadmill 2 slots, 1 on each side and place the allen wrench into the slot. turn anticlock wise 1/4 turn. Turn on treadmill at 3 to 4 miles per hour (not standing on it) and make ajustments in 1/4 turns until belt gets centered and snug. When you have it centered you may ahve to tighten or loosen it in case it is slipping when you are running on it. When you ajust it when centered you should do this in 1/4 turns on both sides to keep it centered. If this doesnt fix the problem I suggest that you may have some other problem or are not capable of reolving this problem on your own. Ask another friend for there opinion if this fails.

If the walking belt is off-center, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. If the walking belt has shifted to the left, use the allen wrench to turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1/2 of a turn; if the walking belt has shifted to the right, turn the bolt counterclockwise 1/2 of a turn. Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt. Plug in the power cord, insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is centered.
