This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.27802690

I'm assuming from your problem that the washer went through its' first wash cycle, drained and spun, then filled again for the rinse cycle, went through the rinse and didn't go to the drain / spin cycle.

If that is correct, it appears that the motor, pump and transmission are working. It also appears that the Lid Switch is working. These are the main places to look for a problem such as yours.

If you stop the washer by pushing the control knob in, moving it to the spin cycle and starting it again, and the washer still doesn't spin, the problem points to a defective timer.

Before replacing the timer, I'd check the Lid Switch again by removing the two Trim End Caps and the two screws under them. Tilt the console back and disconnect the connector from the console to the lid switch.

Using a short insulated wire, jumper the Lid Switch at the console by jumping between the two outer pins.

Following is the Whirlpool Installation and Maintenance manual for these machines with a section on how to jumper the switch.

Then try to start the machine in the spin mode.

If it works, the problem is in the Lid Switch.

If not, It is likely in the timer.

Lid Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve

If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.

Main Control Board

If the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.

Timer

If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

Washer stopped during rinse cycle.

If possible, you can drop the hose to floor level and gravity will drain the water. You may need a hose extension. The other option is to pan the water out. What is the model number of your unit?

Just replace motor coupler a few days ago...now washer filled up, washed & got to rinse cycle then stopped. Turned dial back to wash cycle, won't work. Checked lid switch, not broken. Jumped outer...

since the coupler is new and lid switch was jumped i would be looking at the connections on the motor plug that you disconnected to replace coupler depending on your exact model there is the main plug the 2 wires on the capicator and a smaller plug. BUT FIRST recheck lid switch what must be jumped out is the connection leading up to control panel and NOT the part in the cabinet
to me a appliance tech w/30 years experience it sounds like a bad lid switch!
