I am trying to connect to xbox live through my WR850G router

When I run connect on my xbox I can make it through cableing, ip address and DNS, but when it gets to xbox live it will not connect. I have set the ip address as static aswell as the DNS. I have also set my IP as a DMZ and set routing for ports 88 and 3074.

It sounds to me like you need to open ports 88 through 3074 instead of just opening the two. So this way you open Port 88 to 3074. I can further assist you if you have the router info.

I can't connect to x-box live parties, i can't accept or send game or party invites

You have to set up your xbox to a static IP Address, as well as you have to set up a DMZ inside of your router to the same existing IP Address. So you are going to have to access your router menu find out your information such as dns address, default gateway address, as well as your main ip address. Then go into your xbox and set it up the same but notice you will have to have your IP address for the Xbox to be different than the main IP for the router IE.. Router main IP Address 192.168.2.1 you will want your xbox IE 192.168.2.2 or something along those lines, however the default gateway and dns numbers need to be the same. Hope this helps

Try to set the IP address of the Xbox to 192.168.0.X and check the router's status for the DNS.

Xbox can't find network on PC.

the other persons tip is trash mines better ;)

you can go to your routers2_bing.gif website and enter it manually. Type 192.168.1.1 this might be it or try 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.100

when it shows your routers2_bing.gif info write it down and then put it in your xbox's network by entering it manually. btw the secondary DNS is just 0.0.0.0 if it doesn't give you two. the gateway2_bing.gif is just your routers ip address.

what else you can do is do port forwarding.
But the xbox is not a static ip address2_bing.gif so it'll change. what you can do is when it says to put your ip address in your xbox put all the numbers the same as the routers ip address BUT DON'T USE THE SAME LAST NUMBER! so like if your routers ip address is 192.168.1.1 you can use 192.168.1.23 i use 192.168.2.15 but you may not have the 2 in yours.

Wr850g cant connect to xbox live

I posted a solution under a different problem, but similar. Basically you will need to pick a static IP for your xbox. Then set that IP address in the router web config >> routing >> DMZ IP address setting. Restart both router and xbox and bingo. Your xbox is now directly connected to your cable modem without the router problems preventing connectivity.

Connect it to your router with an ethernet cable.
Make sure the router is setup correctly to your modem, if you can connect all your devices by ethernet cable to the internet then it's set.
If you are using a wireless connection and if it asks for the WEP or WPA key, make sure that you are entering the correct encryption key. You may want to call your router manufacturer to know the correct key for the wireless connection. FYI, it will say that the wireless network is connected but it will still fail the IP Address.

If you have a wired connection and the IP Address or DNS failed, I suggest you to call your Internet Service Provider to check for the Internet connection and obtain these (static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, primary DNS server and secondary DNS server). If your Internet is okay, enter the IP settings manually on the console (System > Network Settings > Edit Settings > IP settings).

That should work.

XBox 360 not compatible with Motorola WR850G

Motorola WR850G router may fail to connect to xbox live after update to firmware 6.1.4. I was able to correct the problem. My solution was
Go in xbox >> network config >> IP and use Static option. Set the xbox to an IP in the range allowed by your router configuration. The router IP config range is found in the router config web >> Lan section. Then I set my router config >> Routing >> DMZ IP Address setting to the xbox ip I just assigned to my xbox. Restart router using the restart button on the Basic page of router config. Restart your xbox and attempt to login to xbox live. This solved my problem.

As a side note, on the xbox networking test page, the xbox live status message will allows show they are aware of a problem with xbox live login. This is a lie. For that reason I postponed trying to fix my router problem thinking it was an xbox issue, it is not. Once you finally connect to xbox live you will still notice this incorrect message remains. THINGS TO TRY loadTOCNode(1, 'whattotry'); Direct connection with a modem only loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. If you are connecting to Xbox Live by using a modem that is connected directly into your broadband socket, your IP address settings are obtained from your ISP. Set your IP address in Network Settings to Automatic. 2. If you use a static IP address that you obtained from your ISP, you must manually enter this address in the Dashboard. Contact your ISP for their static IP address if you do not know it. If the IP is not static, continue with the rest of the troubleshooting. 3. Power cycle the modem. 4. If your ISP requires PPPoE settings, verify that you have entered them correctly. 5. If your ISP does not use PPPoE authentication, do not use these fields in the Dashboard. Shared connection with a modem and a router loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Power cycle both the modem and the router. 2. Try connecting the Xbox 360 console to Xbox Live by using the modem only. This eliminates any configuration problems on the router. • If this setup works without the router, there is a configuration issue with the router. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. 3. Verify that your router's DHCP service has been enabled. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. 4. The IP address that you entered in the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard may be incorrect. Set your IP settings to Automatic. 5. If your ISP requires PPPoE settings, try to connect with only the modem after you enter the PPPoE settings in Network Settings. • If you can connect, see your router documentation to configure the PPPoE settings correctly on the router. 6. If you are receiving an IP conflict error in the More Info section, turn off all the devices on the network. Try to connect with only the modem and Xbox 360 console connected. • If this works, there is a configuration issue on the routers DHCP server. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. Shared connection with a gateway device (combined modem and router) loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Make sure that the device is turned on. 2. Verify that there is activity with the blinking lights sequence WAN, ADSL, and Internet connected power. Note These names will vary from model to model. 3. Power cycle the gateway device. 4. The IP address that you entered in to the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard may be incorrect. Set your IP settings to Automatic. 5. If you are receiving an IP conflict error in the More Info section, turn off all the other devices on the network. Try to connect with only the Xbox 360 console on the network. • If this test works, there is a configuration issue on the gateway DHCP server. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. Shared connection with Microsoft Windows Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Verify that you can browse the Internet. If you cannot browse the Internet, Internet Connection Sharing is not configured correctly. 2. Power cycle the modem. If the modem does not have an on and off switch, unplug the modem from the power outlet. You cannot follow this step if you are using a USB modem. Instead, go to the next step. You must follow this step if you are switching the modem between the Xbox 360 console and a computer. 3. On the computer, click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK. 4. On the View menu, click Tiles. 5. If the connection is listed as Firewalled, the firewall may have to be configured. See your firewall documentation. 6. Enter manual settings in the Dashboard for IP address, subnet mask, DNS address and gateway: • IP Address : 192.168.0.2 • Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 • Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1 • DNS server (Primary): 192.168.0.1 • DNS server (Secondary): 192.168.0.1If none of this works you might be banned. If you modded your xbox360 or for downloading game saves from the internet to boost you gamer score. You might be banned!
