Question about Dacor Kitchen Ranges

Open Question

I have a Dacor SGG365 Gas cooktop with an RV368 fan/vent that rises in the back at the touch of the button. The fan will no longer rise in the back and there seems to be a slight odor or an electrical kind when I press the button.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: We have a separate Jenn-Air

yes you are right..there are switches that should be detected that the unit is in its proper level ans hould stop and turn the fan on.

you may inspect the railing or where the moving part is moving to find limit switches or sliding switches or sensors..it could have been defective with oil or grease and not making contact to transfer the signal to the controller.

tnx 4 using fixya,

SOURCE: Raised vent is Rising after being lowered

Hi,

My RV30S was installed by a qualified service technician in approximately the year 2000. It finally developed a mind of its own. It would raise up and run for a bit and then stop....sometimes it wouldn't raise up or go down....it would switch from fast to slow to stop.....it became frustratingly unusable....
...today i finally took it upon myself to take it apart and I determined that the controller board had fried.

Before I go on -> Disclaimer: These units are hard-wired to live A.C. power. These units must be serviced by technically qualified service personnel. I do NOT recommend anyone to attempt this service. I've worked in the past as an electrical engineer by trade. But to save you time and money you can shop and buy the parts you need yourself and then hire an appliance service technician to safely install them for you. This way they can't rip you off by over charging for the parts and you can certainly count the hours for the install.

The controller board is shown here. In my case, this diode fried.

I found a replacement controller on E-Bay for only $82 bucks and change. At the time of this writing they had 14 in stock.

It sounds like you may be having the same problem. But please be sure to hire a qualified appliance service technician to do the work. If he quotes a price for the controller board anything over 82 bucks, you will indeed will be in a better position to negotiate a better deal.

Hope this helps anyone that is having or will have the same problem with an older RV30....

SOURCE: Dacor oven door does not close completely

Place a hammer handle between the hinge and the door frame. Exert moderate pressure to close the door. It should spring back to normal position. Do both sides.

You'll have to remove it and manually reverse the drive gear. Hopefully, it didn't get stripped.

I have a Viking cooktop with a fan that rises when the side button is pushed. The fan will no longer go up. How can I fix it?

I just finished researching the same issue for my 36" downdraft. It appears that the ost common problem is the little up/down switch.

Most folks on-line were being told that they had to buy the whole top unit for $500.00 plus labor. But an electrical engineerpointed out that allvikingparts.com sold a switch for about $60.00 delivered.

It seems that if one holds the switch for an extended period of time it can heat up and burn a connector - might be a coincidence, but my unit stopped working just after my 4 year old grandson visited for two weeks - I made the mistake of showing him how pushing the button would make the vent go up and down. So the switch probably got mre use in a week than it had in the eight years since it was installed.

You can simply peel your switch off with your finger nail ( it will stick right back). On mine I noticed that the center "wire" hade a dark line through it which probably indicates that it is "burned"

My part is on the way.

Hope this helps - $57.00 is much easier to swallow than $595.00
