This problem is caused by the static electricity which causes the hose controls to jump back down to the off setting. I have seen this issue on several Silver Moon and Blue Moon models before.

The only way to fix this problem is to purchase a brand new, redesigned hose. The new hose can be purchased here; Miele Electric Hose Miele Part # SES 125

In fact, I'm so sure that this new hose will fix the problem to your Miele, that if you do purchase the hose from GoVacuum, we'll give you a 60 day satisfaction money back guarantee. If this hose doesn't fix your problem, you may return it to GoVacuum within 60 days for a full 100% refund, no restocking fees or shipping charges will be deducted. We'll even include a free return label you can use to return the hose to us at our expense!

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email, or request a clarification. I hope this helped you. If you found this solution helpful, please remember to rate this solution as helpful by clicking on the four THUMBS UP icons in the top right hand corner of this solution.

I had the same problem. The problem is loosing the contact at the top part of the handle - where the hose meets the handle. You can try to fix it by opening the handle and putting some ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE grease ( graphite grease or similar) on two rings and contacts you will see there. Undo one screw on the bottom plastic "ring" and pry it out. You might brake little latches on the opposite of the screw, but that would not matter too much. Undo all the screws you can see on the handle and pry it little bit open. I could not open it all the way, but made the gap wide enough that I could use cotton swab and first clean the metal rings little bit and then apply the conductive lubricant. It has been about a year since and it is still working fine, $ 200.- saved :-). If you are not up to it, take it to your local vacuum store and ask them to do it for you. They might have not been trained to do it, but they should be able to manage. Good luck and please spread the word. Miele should have recall this hose and replace it for free, but they refused when I called. That is a very bad attitude to ask customers to pay for their mistake!!!!!

Problem is system cuts off after 10-30 seconds. Is this a common problem?

It is if the motor overheats. Overheating can be caused by several things. Clogged pipes, hose, wands, or power nozzle, or a dirty filter are the most common.
First, disconnect the hose from the wands, plug the hose into the wall outlet, and check the suction. If it's weak or non-existent, there's probably a blockage in it. You can double check by dropping a coin in one end and lifting the hose until the coin drops out the other end. This can best be cleared by using a shop vac or air compressor to blow air through it from the wall end. Plug the shop vac hose into the exhaust port, with the other end in the wall end of the hose Turn on. If this doesn't clear it, you'll probably need to take it to a repair shop.
Visually check the wands. If clogged, simply push it out with a broom handle.
With the wand detached, drop a coin into the wand opening of the power nozzle. If it doesn't fall through, use a wooden spoon handle to push the clog back through toward the brush. Clear it from there.
Check the filter. Remove it and rinse thoroughly. Allow it to air dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
If none of these help, the vacuum needs to be taken to a repair shop for diagnosis and repair.

I have an older Electrolux canister vacuum - model #2100 and the temperature sensor shuts down the motor. How to I take apart and clean?

Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age.
The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down.
To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop

My vacuum is constantly shutting itself off. When

It sounds like you have a blockage somewhere and the air is not passing over the motor to keep it cool. There is usually a thermostat mounted either on or near the motor. The blockage can be anywhere from the elbow ( the swivel part of your carpet sweeper if you have a canister vac) up thru the hose.If you have a canister vac, use a broom handle to push through the hose to clear the blockage. DO NOT ! use a coat hanger or anything that will cut or tare the hose. There are electrical wires in it that have 120 volts and causes quite a shock !
.
If you have an upright vac, start with the duct hose that comes from the part with the brush up to the hose and on to the main canister of the vac
If this does not work, take your vac to a reputable vac shop for repair. Hope this helps,
Joe

I have an Electrolux LE canister. It runs for about 2minutes then shuts off for about a minute , then turns on again and it keeps repeating this routine!!! It is driving me nuts. What part do I need to...

The LE has a thermal cutoff. If the bag is overfilled or a bag breaks and clogs the bag chamber the vac will over heat.
This also happens if the hose, wand or neck of the power head is obstructed. Try dropping a coin through the hose, look through the wand and inspect the neck of the head for blockage. If the hose is clogged , remove the rear filter and plug the hose in to blow out the obstruction.
If all these components are clear, you either have a defective motor or bad thermal sensor.
Parts will come from AERUS Electrolux only.

I have a red c velvet. My vacuum keeps shutting

Could be you have a filter issue and it is overheating and shutting itself off. Make sure you have not put on the wrong filter type for the machine. Some of the pieces that come in the FJM boxes are not actually filters and people make the mistake of putting them on as filters. The other major problem that could be happening is that there is some problem with the hose itself. On my vacuum it will shut itself off after 2-5 minutes, but the power light remains on. I have to press the up button to get more suction, but that only lasts until it shuts itself off again. If I unplug the hose from the cannister... the power comes on fully and the vac never shuts itself off.
A tech told me that the likelihood is that there is some component or connection in the hose control that is causing faulty shutdown. He told me I would need a new hose costing $175. After a year of trying different things, I am convinced he is right and we need to bite it and just buy a new hose.

My Kenmore Progessive vacuum wand does not have any suction. How can I repair it?

Detach the wand from the hose and see if you have suction from the hose itself. It is more often the blockage is in the corrugations of the hose than in the wand, but also check the elbows of any tools attached to the wand and look thru the wand itself..
Anything caught in the hose should be sucked backward with another vac.
Try opening the dust container, remove the bag if there is one and drop a coin through the hose to locate blockage. The coin will come to rest against the blockage if there is any or drop thru..
If you shake the hose you will locate the blockage by feeling the vibration of the coin against the wall of the hose. This will pinpoint your problem area.
Caution rough use with a wire coat hanger could damage the hose and broomsticks get stuck. Use another vac if the hose is blocked.

Shut off the vac and open container and remove the bag. Try dropping a coin into the hose, then raise up to see if it falls thru to the bag area. If it does check the throat of the vac where the dirt is sucked upward to dump into the bag itself.

Performance indicator light is on and suction is not strong

You do have a clog! trust me. Check the wand and the yoke which is on the brush assembly. its the part that connects with the wand.
if thats not it then it has to be in the hose. the only way to get it out of the hose is to take one or both ends off and push a broom stick through it
