Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera

Memory card - not saving pictures

I hope I'm doing something stupid and you can easily solve my problem.

This is the first time I've used a digital camera with a memory card. I understand everything about how the camera works, except when I shut it off, my pictures are no longer available to review or upload later.

I'm sure the memory card is installed properly because when I insert it, the quantity of pictures I can take increases.

I can review and upload pictures as long as I don't shut the camera off. I would surely think I should be able to still have the pics available for upload later - say if I'm out and about and unable to upload immediately.

I've also tried protecting them and while I think they are protected, they are not available after the camera is shut off and turned back on.

The camera is a Cobra 6550, 6 mega pixels. HELP! Thanks in advance for any info!

Re: Memory card - not saving pictures

I have a Cobra camera (I believe it is an 8500) and when I use it without the memory card, it will take pictures. As soon as I put the memory card in, I can't use it. It says I need to digitalize my camera. I put in the date, time, year. Can't take pictures...
