My wireless router DG834G is not communicating with my laptop.

Your "access point" means the thing that your computer connects to in order to get on the internet. An "access point" can be the dsl modem, a router or switch inbetween the computer and the internet connection or the point of entry to the internet - depending on what you are using to connect and get on line.

You mentioned you have a broad band connection with t mobile. Is this the T mobile home service link that gives you regular phone service and internet? If so - what is the name of the box your connecting your phone and pc to?

What is the name of the equipment that t mobile gave you to use that broad band link?

Are you using a desktop or a laptop? Wireless connection? or a wired connection with a ethernet cable (looks like a phone cable but a little bigger on the plug end)?

The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key.
The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key and this is in the router's wireless settings.
To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settingsconfigured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also the wireless cards inall the laptops and or computers needs to be configured with these router'swireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate withyour wireless router.

This is very easy to do and you should have no problems doing this. The first step to installing it connecting your router to your broad band router through the wan port. All you do it take your Ethernet cable that went from your broad band router to your computer and attach it to your new routers WAN port. next wile your new router is turned off, turn off your broad band router and then turn it back on wile it is booting up turn on your new router this is not always necessary but it will make sure that they sink together properly. And that's it your done just hook up all of your other computers to the remaining ports and they should work with out a problem.

PS. this is just the basics of setting up your router if it has wireless you may want to think about implementing some security measures such as encryption.

read on the router if its broad band , if is not , you will not be able to use it , so my advice to you is get aother linksys router with broad band on it .wish you all the best

If you are aware of security encryption, if any, on the router then you just need to scan for the wireless network on the laptop and connect to your network.

In order for you to be able to log into Xbox Live, you will need to have DSL or Broad Band internet connect in your home. Once you have that, you will be able to connect the Xbox 360 directly to the Modem that the internet provider gives you. If you wish to able to connect both the Xbox and your notebook to the modem you will then need a router or a wireless router. So, if you do not have DSL or Broad Band Internet service in your home, you will not be able to log into Xbox Live.

Check wireless is enabled in the router, and that it is turned on on the laptop itself. Then additionally check the laptop can actually see the routers SSID, and that the WPA-PSK key is correct (DO NOT use WEP)

reset the router...see if the laptop will see your access point..if it sees any access points at all....if it dosent then reinstall the wireless card. what version of windows are you using ?

First use the Netgear setup wizard:-

Open Internet Explorer
Enter http://routeraddress e.g http://192.168.0.1
Click Setup Wizard (top left)

Then for With AOL make sure you have set these values in the Netgear
ADSL settings as PPPOa
VC 0,38
MTU setting to 1400

If you still have problems
Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> select AOL Connectivity
click Add/Remove -> use the repair option
Follow instructions to repair.
Once complete make sure modem is configured and switched on and
try restarting AOL.
It should search for your connection, find it and allow you to log on.
